Has anyone had any luck getting the white fishing lure for the kid in Bailu? I've popped in hundreds of Yuan to the capsule toy machine with no luck.

I missed pretty much all of the quests in Bailu. Where is this one triggered and where is the capsule machine?

There is a similar side quest after leaving Bailu and it took me 200-300 tries to get the one that the kid had asked for.

This on

This one is one of the kids learning martial arts, just as you enter the main village. The capsule toy machine is right outside the kitchen where the old man sits.

Theres at least 4 more in Bailu:
- Toy Capsules for Kid
- Collecting Herbs for the Elder (blind lady)
- Helping some dude with a girl (starts at first gambling place)
- Talking daily to a guy near second Gambling place.

Sorry for not remembering npc/location names. Was never my strength.

Also note: most of these quests became only available when you need to collectthe 2000 yuan.

I guess the chance is somewhat around 1%. Use save/reload a couple of times to not waste too much money.

I figured reloading would be the only real way round it.

I've found the others, but when you say second gambling place, do you mean the pail toss?

Speaking of fishing locations though, loads have broken signs that you can't fish at. I believe they unlock later, but I can't establish as to when.

Later in the game you are told about secret fishing locations as a reward for completing quests. I’m guessing this unlocks fishing spots with broken signs, although can’t confirm as I didn’t do any such quests in Bailu and didn’t find any broken signs after leaving Bailu before completing the quests that told me about them.

I think he means the place with frog racing. Sunset Hill maybe?
That's correct. The quest starts from the guy who hides in his house earlier in the story. (Xe or Ze or something)
You have to talk to him multiple times on different days. I think 3 times.

Theres only 5 fishing spots at the time you get the quest.
2 at the lake where you lend fishing gear.
2 green bridge river.
1 pond past sunflowers.

For the quest he tells you exactly where to go and what to look for when fishing. I had no problems finding them with his descriptions.

Out of memorie it was:

1. White catfish: Lake (the spot near grass in water (not wooden bridge). Fish bites in grass (left side)
2. Blue catfish: Green Bridge River near gambling place. Fish bites in current (far right)
3. Green catfish: Pond past sunflowers. Fish bites in dark places near rocks (back to the right)
4. Red catfish: Green Bridge River at the end opposite of the gambling place. Fish bites between rocks/close to rocks at back left)

I believe this is related to the kid with the soccer ball, I've done that quest and he directed me to a location with a broken sign where I still couldn't fish.

Hmm. Interesting. They must be unlockable somehow as I fished in all five of the available fishing spots in Bailu and didn’t get the trophy attached to doing so. I can only assume it’s because I didn’t fish in the two spots with broken signs. Maybe there is another quest at the fishing shop that asks you to repair the signs or something, or maybe you catch a certain number of fish to open them up?

Niaowu Quests I remember off the top of my head:

The barber on the promenade needs a volunteer for a haircut

Ren needs a mushroom

Shrine Maiden gives this quest to find a stolen book

The tour guide at the harbor entrance makes you find flags around the city

The fortune teller at the bottom of the promenade tells you to go to New Paadise where you get in to a fight with two random dudes for thinking Shenhua is your girlfriend and they're jealous

The doctor with the bloody coat asks you to find herbs

A girl on the dock where you first got off will ask you to buy 4 items for the cheapest price possible

I might be missing some but that's what springs to mind at the moment outside of the ones mentioned in the thread.

In Bailu Village: Panda Market: After beating the Thugs and the Boss. Go to the Pawn Shop. The Pawn Shop owner will give you a quest. I think it only becomes available after beating the boss. (based on one of the characters dialogs while doing said quest...I assume it only unlocks after directly after beating the boss)

In Bailu Village: Sunflower Meadow: After meeting Su, go down to the Sunflower Meadow area and approach the kids. They'll tell you about a scary ghost haunting Sunflower Meadow and give you a quest to excise it.
