I mean, do you guys over the pond not get educated on sex and contraception like we are here in Canada?

Over here, and I think it's the case of most of the world, men fall into their primitive instinct of wanting to breed and spread their genes. Women, they usually get pregnant early/when not in a proper relationship because part of them think it's a way of locking down a life partner.

Of my 8 female cousins, only 2 are with their partners and 1 of those is married.

I recently watched this video in which scientists hypothesize our journey to the end of time. At the end of the video, I am reminded of how insignificant we are in comparison to the rest of the Universe and that everything is a victim of Memento Mori. Also, I was reminded of Carl Sagan's infamous "Pale Blue Dot" speech. In that, we should celebrate and/or tolerate the differences between people.

We, humans, are the most advanced species on this planet. Unlike other sentient beings, are insatiable in our desire for understanding. This unquenchable thirst for understanding has lead to the advanced civilization or infrastructure we have today. It would be a shame that such an advanced form of intelligent life was destroyed because we see things differently.

Then again, at the end of the day, my words are utterly meaningless. As long as there are differences between people there will always be a conflict. It would not surprise me if we end up being the cause of our demise.

ive been following the missing person case of sarah everard in the news. i was really hoping she would be found safe and well.. but its very sad and disturbing to hear her body has been found and police officer has been arrested for her murder.

the news is saying the police are investigating whether this suspect used his warrent card (police id) to force sarah into his car. thats quite shocking if true.. because he could abducted many other women the same way.

Did any of you lot watch that documentary of feudal Japan on Netflix? I thought it was interesting, especially when I seldom see Asian documentaries on the telly.

Yours must be sturdy as fuck compared to the ones they have in hotel rooms then.

Wouldn't be if he doesn't "recover" from this head injury. Very little information so far, but he doesn't live near wear she was potentially taken from so chances are he was looking for someone to kidnap. And if that was the case, probably not the first.

So the Dutchess of Cambridge has visited the memorial sight of Sarah Everard. I wonder what it is that makes something a sensation and others not. Before it was discovered she was murdered by a police officer, her face was all over the news and YouTube. Just very curious if this is something media networks agree is going to be a big story and how it all works.

Stories centred around violence, disaster, and doom and gloom have a way bigger draw than positive or "whatever" stories. From what I understand, it is an extension of the propensity for humans to pay considerably more attention to that which poses a danger to themselves and those around them. "Considerably more attention" translates into higher viewing figures and clicks, hence why the media love reporting on such stories.

Does Kate care about Sarah Everard? In my opinion, outside of the "man, that sucks" feeling we all have, does she fuck. It's for optics and a good photo op, no different to any one of the royals cutting the red tape of a new supermarket or community centre.

Until more centre and right wing types become more republican minded, the movement here will still be dominated by communists who studied at Marxist universities. They won't gain ground.

As I purchase computer games, I'm a staunch capitalist.

I see what you mean but there was a story not too long ago about a woman killed but her ex who was a MMA fighter. I saw it on the news but it didn't reach the levels of this one. She was also a white female, completely innocent etc. Some things just catch on.

Could be because the murder was committed by a policeman, which is much more shocking than someone for whom violence is their profession. The police are supposed to protect us, not commit murder, and then there is the antagonism towards the entire institution of the police on account of the death of George Floyd, even though the latter incident didn't even happen in this country. It's a clusterfuck.

I'll reiterate: the republican movement here is shit because of woke, progressive nonsense.

I think it's possible to be conservative minded AND be anti monarchy if different political stances were made to feel welcome.

Until republicanism in the UK isn't dominated by socialist supporters of the Labour Party, it's not going to gain ground by the masses, no matter how many people drone on about the royal family.

i think this case was disturbing for most people because she was abducted just walking home. yes, there is lots of horrific murders in the news but when the public seems to have all the facts ( who did it, how they did it. was the criminal has caught etc), we seem to be able to draw a line under the news story and move on. unfortunely with the case of sarah everard, there is so much we don't know and i think that is disturbing in its self. ..people also seem to sometimes build a strong emotional connection to a news story because they are able to put themself or their love ones in the shoes of the victim.

like ShenGCH has said, if you add the fact that a policeman allegedly killed her, it draws Parallels between current events around the world regarding police violence.

as for kate i personally think her visit to the memorial probably comes from a real place of wanting to show repect but with all celebrities, it's very hard to take them seriously when we all know they have big PR teams behind them.

That feeling when you're kind of embarrassed about the video you edited, but also kind of proud of it and want to show it off. Considering I haven't attempted making a (anime/wrestling) music video in a LONG time...this came out pretty decently I thought. I did this over the last three days as a test to learn a little bit of Davinci Resolve. I was looking for a decent video editor and since Premiere cost an arm and a leg, I went with the free version of Davinci just to fool around and try editing again. And spent almost three sleepless nights putting this stupid little thing together.

On the one hand, I'm a 30 year old man who shouldn't be crushing over his teenage crush anymore. On the other, fuck it, I thought this came out pretty decently for someone who hasn't edited a video in a LONG time.

Christ, the last time I edited I was using Windows Movie Maker before graduating to Sony Vega...I have no idea if Sony Vega is even a thing anymore? This was the days before Youtube where every stupid weeb/wrestling fan was making bargain basement music videos with their shitty in built editing programs :D This weeb included :D

I miss video editing though, I just never had anything real to edit other than stupid little music videos. Anyways....no shame to be had here. Here's something I worked on for three (almost sleepless) nights.

Maybe I should try my hand at something Shenmue related next. I always wanted to do a Shenmue video actually but never had the resources to capture game console footage back in the day. Alas, that has changed and I have an Elgato now I use for occasional streaming :D

I kind of wanted to do a video op-Ed on Shenmue some day...hence my desire to re-learn video editing and since making dumb music videos was my 20’s. I figured do what you know to learn a new program.
