1998 Shenmue Premiere Video | 20th Anniversary

Yesterday was the the 20th anniversary of the no-expense-spared Shenmue premiere, held in Yokohama, Japan in 1998.

What better time to dust off this digest video of the event that was released by Sega. It shows a young Yu Suzuki on stage demonstrating various features of his upcoming game. I have added the English captions I made a few years ago for the (old) Shenmue Dojo, with a few minor tweaks.

It’s hard to believe that the game is almost 20 years old and we’re finally getting the third game. It was so long ago and yet also feels like yesterday.
