A Gamer's Journey (Shenmue Documentary) goes to Kickstarter

Why there is notice to not "spoil this documentary" ?

Is it going to show some secrets of the next games ?

It's because it was a kickstarter backer only showing of it. It was a rough cut and isn't on release yet.

I've yet to watch it completely, but from what I've already watched, it's all good. And I'm so happy that Yu Suzuki shared some of his precious artworks. Beautiful. 😊

David, great to see you posting. Many of us based on new artwork have speculated on remaining members of the Chiyoumen thanks to new artwork, such as this post

I believe many years ago you actually saw artwork of Gentei and Koutei, can you confirm we are on the right track?

Hey! My pleasure. Wish I had more free time to post more! I've just read some posts from your link and it was an interesting read. Let's say some things are accurate and some aren't. πŸ˜…

Are you able to elaborate on what you have seen and provide us with basic descriptions of Gentei and Koutei?

I'd love to, but I can't, sorry. To be honest, there are so many things I don't know. I barely know more than fans on the Dojo (except for some artworks). Can I say how they look like? No. All I can say is, from all the information you've gathered, you should be able to guess who Gentei is.

Gentai = Ziming confirmed. Thanks, David.

I wanna watch the final directors cut on Blu-Ray so I'll be patient. if there's anything Shenmue fans are good at it is waiting.

Spoilers aside, general impressions?

I didn't back it, so I couldn't watch the cut, but as soon as the final cut drops I will definitely buy it.

Honestly from what we were shown it's really good.

Some nice insights into the development of the first two games. Some good fan interviews and a snippet on Shenmue III.

Really hope they sort out a proper public launch

Good to hear

I recently watched that Pretending I'm a Superman documentary about the Tony Hawk games and I was kind of let down by how scatter brained it was and how little it focused on the actual games (or Neversoft) themselves.

So I'm hoping for good things from this documentary. I just want meaty talk about the three games themselves. So hopefully it's better than the THPS documentary turned out to be.
