Greetings fellow Dojo members,
In light of the news that Shenmue III has finally gotten a release date, August 27th, 2019, we want to make an announcement about how we will handle the forums in the lead up to and immediate post-release of Shenmue III.
The Shenmue Dojo, being the oldest and largest community, have an obligation to not only the fans of the series, but also it’s creators. Breaking the wishes set in place by SEGA and/or Deep Silver (the publisher of Shenmue III) on embargoes and release dates is something we will take seriously.
In preparation of the imminent launch of Shenmue III, we would like to set some ground rules, so we can have a mutual understanding of how things need to be. This is both out of respect of the wishes of SEGA/Deep Silver, but also to help fans avoid spoilers of a game that none of us have ever played, and especially since this is the true follow up we have been fighting for since Shenmue II.
Incase of pre-launch leaks
In the case of a pre-launch leak, all discussions about an eventual leak will be discussed in a dedicated Official Leaks Discussion Thread, set up by staff in the event of said leaks. Any images, videos etc. from the leaks will be promptly removed, but discussion will still be welcome.
Pre- & Post-launch discussion
In the period just before the launch, there are bound to be members who receive their copy ahead of the official launch date (just like what happened to Shenmue I & II re-release), if this is the case, users will be required to post in threads prefixed with [SPOILERS], we have add a feature which allows users to prefix thread titles. And Please don’t spoil anything in the title itself either.
Posting of theories are also welcome, but please prefix them with the [THEORY] prefix, this to shield users who want to go in absolutely cold, incase these theories turn out to be true.
In the 60-90 days post-launch period, all discussion surrounding Shenmue III, gameplay, story elements, features etc. need to be prefixed with [SPOILERS] too, this for any latecomers, and the fact that not everyone will blast through the game in one sitting. So please, respect this.
In [SPOILERS] threads, any images, screen grabs and videos official released by Deep Silver / SEGA or YsNet are of course allowed.
The following will not be acceptable
Again, discussion is always welcome, talk about rumours, leaks etc. We are all very excited, but let’s be nice to each other and not spoil anything for anyone, we have waited far too long for this. Thank you for your understanding.
