Anyone played or heard of "The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa"?

It's on sale today on GOG and this is the first I've heard of it. It looks kinda cool, I'm thinking about buying it and trying it out... but it also gives me some Shenmue vibes, and, this is the form of game I would accept Shenmue in if a proper 3D open world game could not be made.
