Do the video game industry and the wrestling industry have more things in common than we think?

It would seem so. For example, Nintendo and the WWE for the most part were family friendly. Sega and WCW both left their respective properties in March 2001. The NES was test marked in New York City in 1985. Also that same year and city, WWE which was known as WWF at the time debuted their WrestleMania. The 16 bit war was akin to the Monday Night War. Even though both WCW and Sega were winning their respective wars, in the end they both lost.

This is an interesting parallel. And I honestly think Sega fans preferred WCW, whereas all the kids in the neighborhood who got SNESes for Christmas watched WWF. This was absolutely the case where I grew up, no exceptions. If you wanted to play with WWF toys and play Super Star Wars after school, it was always going to be at the same house. Whereas the cooler Ric Flair, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Goldberg, and Outsiders/nWo fans always had a Genesis. 1996 was a very good year.
