I miss shawarma, the only time I had it outside of the middle east it was disgusting. Doner kebabs are fine but Shawarma was always tastier.

The place I get shawarma from here is run by a guy from Syria, doesnt speak any English. I have never had it outside of the US but now I am encouraged to.

I'm just having these gelatine-free cola bottles. Not very pornographic, but maybe people will find these two smug cartoon vegans a bit exciting (y)

Can't beat that.

I love to cook, preferably long and complicated stuff, but this is an easy noodle bowl to do, takes about 10 minutes to throw together and is very filling and satisfying.

These are a bitch, Coca Cola chicken drums, takes for ever and you risk burning them and ruining them at every turn. But they fall off the bone and melt in your mouth when you get it right.

Love dumplings. Boiled, seared, fried... These are pork and coriander stuffed ones, I make them often. Delicious with vegetarian stuffing of mushroom, cabbage and Sichuan pepper too.

I had a Dominos pizza after stream last night, and today I am questioning my life in general.

@pilman everything you've posted looks amazing, reminds me of the food from Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown which I'm only just now getting into. :crying: I've never had Korean food but a couple of places have sprung up near me, I definitely need to try it.

This reminds me of one of my favourites from Yo Sushi. I don't eat there much anymore though as it's overpriced and not especially good.

Seared beef, lime and coriander.

Ordering Dominos when it's not even Tuesday...

I couldn't find one, so if there is one already, feel free to delete/merge...but yeah! Who here cooks and/or has a passion for cooking?

Or are you someone who does it out of necessity and hates it? lol

Given that it's (Canadian) Thanksgiving this weekend, I will be cooking up a storm for my wife and I: a Turkey Breast, Roasted Carrots and Potatoes, a green of some sort (haven't decided yet), a little bit of homemade stuffing and I will start the meal with Pumpkin Tortelli, a recipe from Mantova (Northern Italy) that I saw on iron Chef Japan and will recreate. :D

You say you're going to be cooking up a storm, yet you're not having hailstones as an appetiser? Bruh.

Sounds lovely otherwise, though.

My wife is an excellent cook to a point I feel bad because there's not really anything I do that well for her. She randomly decided to make steamed Bao Buns the other day and nailed it first time. She made tortilla wraps this week and it's the best I've ever had.

lol! It had actually hailed about an hour before I made that post  .

Everything came out well! That pasta was phenomenal, my first time ever making fresh pasta.

Awesome. Love bao and any type of wrap!

I made another Iron Chef dish last Sunday; they used a fliet mignon, cooked with Ataulfo Mango and mexican Mole (I had made the Mole earlier last week) and wrapped in Mexican corn tortillas (I had a bunch of Mexican corn totillas on hand).

Not really a typical wrap like we're used to in English-Speaking countries, but the tortilla is still a wrap! :D

I cook all the time. I would not call myself a chef however. I also finally went and bought a rice cooker. Completely not needed. I used to make a little of everything from around the world, but now I am health conscience and try to eat well. Processed foods and even bad ingredients are a no go and I do not eat much meat at home any more, so it kind of narrows down what you can make. Then again I am basically cooking what I had before, but just not using meat... 🤔 Lately I have been focusing on traditional Japanese cooking. Finally been able to enjoy tofu now. Before it was just so blah...

And did my other thread inspire you? :giggle:

It possibly did! ;)

I have 2 of Morimoto's cookbooks at home and making traditional Japanese can be challenging, but a ton of fun!

My wife and I have made Takoyaki as per Morimoto's recipe frequently and it is just awesome.

I get most of my inspiration from YouTube. Here are some of my favorite chefs on YouTube in no particular order.

Cooking with Dog. Although she tends to over do it with some steps in my opinion, she definitely knows what she is doing.

Wok with Tak- He sure knows his woks!

Martin Yan's Chinatown- Love his show. The beginning always has a short segment of Asian life style. Sometimes I wish that part was even longer. And that intro music!

All awesome!

I need to take a look at other chefs and the like; I'm so Iron Chef-focused, I forget that there are millions of other people who have just as much flair and difference-ness as the Tetsujins have.

I liked the original Iron Chef. I never got into the American one. I used to like Alton Brown too, but trying to cook some of his recipes were just too... complicated for something so simple. I did like his stories and history explanations though.

I also enjoy-

18th Century Cooking (Townsends)- Very informative of the era of cooking back then. He tries to do it as they had back in the day.

War Rationing (WW2) UK- This should be a whole bunch of videos rolling into one another. Old classics that are thankfully still around. Not all cooking, but everything rather interesting in self sufficiency or if interested in the topic of food and WW2.

Food Wished- I love his voice. But it does not match his face! ^^!
