Just a tip, cleared the first game and pressed B to skip past the credits and then again to skip the save...

I now have to start again from the 70-man battle....

Glad I like this game so much!
 
Did you actually skip though? It could be that save screen glitch that skips past it automatically. Happened to me.
 
LOL I have done the ending four times in Shenmue1 HD, I watched the credits and it insta booted me without pressing anything so be warned. Make that save at Ryo's house before the Chai fight at the docks.
What worked for me (mileage may vary) is skipping the 1st section of credits and then watch the port ones and then it stayed on the final save screen and let me save.
You'd think they would have had a do you want to quit without saving yes/no just to stop this being a problem.
