Just how durable is the Phoenix Mirror?

In the first game when Chai dropped it, the Phoenix Mirror does not break or even crack for that matter.

I'm guessing the canonical answer would be that the mystical power surrounding the mirrors protected it. You do see it crack in the bad ending though so who knows.

I think the stress it had to endure while sitting in Ryo's back pocket over the course of Shenmue II's events were way worse than that one fall to the ground. Certainly a miracle that this stone is holding up so well.
