Random Gaming Thoughts

I swear my talents are being wasted...

(Context: SoT now has a barrel system like Skyrim as opposed to just one item type per barrel that you can take from without the need to navigate menus. Also there are new types of cannon balls with "effects")

Do it! Im also keeping an eye out for a good CRT TV for my SNES at the moment.

Although I like the thought of it, I put some time into getting this set up yesterday and it is fantastic! After the mods and community-made improvements, the PC version is now the definitive Silent Hill 2 experience:

Metal Gear Solid 1 came out 20 years ago today.

We live in a society ?

Because I have a Wii U I don't know what to buy for the Switch until Taiko no Tatsujin is released

Tomorrow they release 428: Shibuya Scramble, I hope they someday release an english version (or remaster/remake) of Machi.
Also Kaze no Regret if it's not too much to ask :p

Got it on pre-order, not out until end of September when I'll be away though.

Speaking of which, it's currently the highest rated PS4 game at the moment!

4 10/10 ratings so far! Definitely a visual novel with a unique style, would love to see more with live action stills as opposed to just anime/manga art style.

Just finished Unavowed, another VERY solid adventure game by wadjet eye / dave gilbert.
Very cool how they use different characters that have different solutions to the puzzles, some nice puzzles, but mostly keep the story going forward. The only criticism I have about this is that having 5 characters like this (you can choose 2 characters and your main), is that while it brings replayability, you end up caring about just a couple (or mostly one, like in my case).
A couple of branching paths that are quite organic, and the way to resolve them is always at the end, but nice enough (it's the best compromise between having no player choice and an unbearable number of paths). With a nice twist at the semi end (looks like a 5 act game).
The game and story seemed to flow very well, but it also felt it was just too long for the sake of it (it's only around 8 hours, but I'm now used to smaller experiences), while I liked all the content and scenarios, I felt it could have a chapter less and feel equally compelled.
I'd rate it an 8.5 or a 9.

Still not got around to playing this game but wow I'm kinda surprised anything revolving around this IP is happening tbh!

I have a PS3 and I’m think of getting the ‘Uncharted’ games. I hear they’re great games, especially the second. Has anyone on here played both the Shenmue series and Uncharted series? How do they compare? Which is better?

Classic Kojima is vintage. He was just unstoppable around that time, knocking masterpiece after masterpiece out. I'm definitely fighting for him to make a comeback with Death Stranding after MGS4, PW and MGSV were all lacking in a lot of areas for me.

Kojima really ought to go back to basics and make some kind of adventure game (fuck you people, I'm not calling it a goddamn visual novel) again, more in the vein of Snatcher and Policenauts. Something with less emphasis on gameplay and cinema scenes, so he can go all out on story again. Just be a full-on writer, rather than being stuck in the position of worrying about technical aspects all too much. Might be nice to see.

Really doubt that will ever happen now that Kojima is a blockbuster developer and obsessed with cinematics. Would be cool to see him do a new adventure game though, definitely.

Likewise, that's a wonderful surprise (although it's not as if Konami is going to say no to practically free royalties) and I'll definitely be buying those if the price is reasonable.

Loved PW. Was an anomolous blip on radar between the two shitty 4/5.
