I much prefer the whole soundtrack of 2; the Museville theme is a LOVELY little tune, always puts a huge smile on my face.

And I've mentioned it in the past, but Bandit's Trap is one of my favourite video game music pieces ever; love the violin-work, love the vibe and the beat is just super fast-paced and cool. Can't find a video of it and YT is blocked at work (I can link video links, but can't view them, hence why I was able to post my Speed Devils video in the DC thread :D), so I can't point it out... Anyways, it's the tune that plays in the Pine Village, "Dungeon," lol

Glad I sorted this out a few weeks ago! This is a shambles! Especially when you look and see how active 360 games still are even on modern machines. If I wasn't tied to having a PS5 because of the Final Fantasy XVI exclusivity, you bet I would have jumped to Xbox already - This coming from someone who owns every PS Console and 800+ PS games.

the playstation store for ps3 and ps-vita will not close. sony said it will now stay open. ( so i assume patches / dlc will be ok?)

Well, it's all over for now... Honestly this how situation has placed massive doubt on Sony for me, If Final Fantasy XVI wasn't deemed an exclusive I'd already have jumped ships. But this has been a good chance for me to get all the stuff I wanted so it hasn't felt like a waste, just wish they handled it better.

Idk, I didnt play them. They are for PSP I think. Based in what I read on internet, apparently they are not worthed of be played, but I'd do it some day (like... In a lot of years lol). If you want to I'd give it a chance and if you do share your experience!

3 has a fan translation. They're both good games, but they feel more like side-stories than main entries in the series. You can go straight from 1 to 4.

God damn VC4 is SICK. VC1 was great but tbh I'm enjoying this quite a bit more so far (only to chapter 4. or was it 5?). Also hilariously sexist... not that I'm complaining. :sneaky:

Glad you're enjoying it! It's probably my favourite game of the last few years (alongside Dragon Quest XI and Builders 2).
 
not that interesting but things must of calmed down on psn as sony finally allowed me to activate my ps3 console so i could download my ps1 games. in the past, i kept getting errors and it seemed others online were having the same problem.
 
Seeing as how we are getting a video game based around Sun-Wu Kong the Monkey King, I hope one day to get one revolving around The Eight Immortals. Or one that seriously delves into Shinto mythology.

I still have 8 squad stories to unlock, 3 more skirmishes (unless even more unlock after beating these), and the DLC to finish up, but my god, VC4 is the best game I've played in forever. What an absolute gem. The class balance and level design feels so perfectly tightened up, I love all the twist and turns of the batshit crazy story, I love the new striking color pallettes and designs. But most importantly, I love the way Minerva's boobs jiggle when she murders someone and then pushes up her glasses. 👀 I "beat" the main story about a week ago and am only now getting to posting about it because of real life stuff. Pretty sure I had way more I wanted to say about it then, but w/e.

But maaaaan what a game. What a fricken gosh darn heck of a game. I feel like such a shitbag now for passing this up when it first came out. I think I was stubbornly clinging to Vita almost exclusively at the time (even though I had a PS4) and ended up mostly ignoring it because I made the mistake of thinking it was "just" a VC1 rehash. If there's never a VC5 then it's all my fault, but I really hope there is one now and will be buying it day 1 for sure this time around.

Speaking of Vita, I ended up redownloading VC2 on my Vita and starting anew pretty much right after finishing the VC4 main story so I could keep playing VC in bed when I'm supposed to be sleeping (unrelated but I've been extremely tired lately??). Still got some qualms with it compared to 1 and 4, but I'm enjoying it a lot more this time around. The game is certainly very different for better and for worse. I really have no idea how to use Techs generally speaking, though in that mission where you're supposed to escort an APC past a bunch of laser blasting robot looking guys they ended up saving my ass. I just planted two of them behind sandbags at the base I sent the APC through, and Dirk + like 2 or 3 other enemies were completely unable to take them both out in order to give chase to the APC. :ROFLMAO: I don't know if this is how I was supposed to approach the mission, but it just barely worked out.

VC4 is underrated as hell. Sega fault for not pushing marketing and promotional effort tho is super lacking. So if anything, blame Sega first.

VC is on PS3, VC2 and 3 are on... what console? And VC4 is on PS4, correct?

As I only choose to play Sega titles post-DC (my backlog is too big to jump to anything else and I AM a Sega purist, after all), is there any way to play these games on just the PS3 and PS4? I want to be fully-immersed if I do pick the series up and while I will play Japanese versions (as I do with RGG), would this still be possible with just those two consoles?

I really should've picked it up myself in 2013, when I made my Sega Periodic Table, as many VC characters matched up and I used them.

Any help is appreciated as always!

Glad you loved it as much as I did! Minerva is indeed best girl, you'll probably enjoy the beach DLC :LOL:

1 is on PS3 and PS4, 4 is on PS4, so you should be okay for those two. 2 and 3 however, are only on PSP. It's well worth getting a cheap PSP to play them, or even emulating.
 
Just out of curiosity KiddMarine, how would you rank the installments of the series relative to each other? I know a lot of people REALLY like 3 (though that's pretty much all I know about 3).

What's this? 👀 And as KiddMarine already said, VC1 and 4 can be played on PS4, 2 and 3 can be played on PSP or Vita. Of course, as much as I love my Vita, the tradeoff of playing the games there is you can't use the physical versions of the games (no UMD drive, obviously). I don't know if they ever made a physical version of VC1 on PS4 like they did originally on PS3, but I know the PS4 version was really nice at 60fps 1080p.

I have a feeling you're probably going to opt for a PSP for the physical copies, but IF you decide you wanna play them on Vita, just know Vitas themselves are a lot cheaper on Yahoo Auctions than any western sites. If you wanted to play 2 & 3 on the big screen, I'm not sure if these games work on Vita TV or not. I used a (probably terrible) machine translation on the link below

and it said "PS Vita TV interchange". No idea if that means it's compatible to play on the Vita TV or not. PSPs (I think just PSP 2000 and 3000s?) have a TV out for that, but not sure if there are any limitations for things like game compatibility (not sure why there would be), monitor/TV compatibility, etc.

There's also 60fps patches for both 2 and 3 if you wanted to emulate, but I know that's not your thing.
