Random Shenmue III Thoughts

I finally found my name in the Shenmue III website's credits list. That was such a awesome rewarding moment. But I couldn't find it in the actual game credits. Is that normal or did I overlook it?

In the backer list, it will be highlighted and flashing.

I finally found my name in the in-game backer credits! This whole time I thought that it was listed the same way as the website credits list but for those who don't know it's not. What a tremendous honor it was being a small part in making this game a reality.

As threads on S3 are legion, I'll post this here.
I plan to give the trio a slow playthrough. It made me wonder, though, esp. after the initial reactions:

a. How many times have you played through S3? (incl. a new save + just though 1 part)
b. Have you had any desire to replay S3 since your last playthrough?

I’ve had two complete playthroughs but played and started the game multiple times not including playing the DLC content which required you to replay segments of Niaowu.

Playing the game on PS5 at 60 FPS made the game a much more enjoyable experience. I would love to replay the game again on PC with some of the community mods, like classic camera, no UI and no stamina draining.

I’ve played through three times now, although on both of my subsequent playthroughs I used my original save to avoid having to grind for cash again. I’ve no doubts I’ll return to Shenmue 3 at some point, but I’ve no desire to do so anytime soon and will almost certainly go down the new game plus route again when I eventually do. Still recommend it though.

a.) Two complete runs, one at launch and the second after the final DLC released, and gearing up for a third at an indeterminate point in the future with the Steam release.

b.) Yes. Always at the back of my mind but I'm trying to play through my backlog rather than replaying titles I've already completed. I did have a quick blast in it a few weeks back to remind myself of a few details in how the movement controls worked, and accidentally spent a full hour just wandering around and drinking in the atmosphere.

I recently played a free demo on Steam of a game called Sword and Fairy 7.
It is a popular chinese rpg series also known as Chinese Paladin; it even has a popular tv series based on the original game.
While playing this demo, the game reminded me a lot of Shenmue 3; the enviroment is identical to Guilin and there is even a small village that looks like Bailu; I even dare say that the village in this game looks more with what I was expecting Bailu to look like than the one that we got in Shenmue 3; the music in this game is also amazing and very immersive.
Since this is a free demo I think you guys should check it out; if you are in to this type of game; the only downside is that this game is in Chinese language only; but it is fairly easy to navigate the menus; so I didn't have any problem playing it.

Check out these pictures; I bet they will remind you of Shenmue 3 and Bailu Village.

Guilin !?

Dont suppose you could spoiler the images? You nearly killed my work PC.
Why !? I don't think these images are much of a spoiler since it is part of the demo and there are no story related images.
My intention was just to show how the village looks like and why it reminded me of Bailu.
Why did I nearly killed your PC !? Was it because you don't have the minimum requirements to play the game !?

Simply a bandwidth issue for some users. Also I'm the mod who spoiler tagged your post here as well as another post earlier in the week in General Gaming Thoughts where there were so many large images, they were split into a triple post. Apologies if I've upset you.

Not a major issue, only need to be considerate of smaller screens/resolutions/ISP. Please use spoiler tags in future for 3+ large media

Carry on...

I think you have misinterpreted what I meant. Its all good, it's just loading 20/30 full size images on a single page can take a while, even in 2021. Especially on PC which don't have a fast internet connection, or up to date hardware (such as my work PC)
Also, when it's a page you come back to such as a topic page on an internet forum, you don't want to scroll past the images every time you reload the page to see what replies there are within the thread, that's all.

Understood; I will keep that in mind. Thanks.

a. Once.
b. Occasionally, but I play games fairly slowly and have a massive back catalog of mostly long games and I recently became obsessed with VF5. I really need to play Shenmue 2, the GOAT, again before I do anything else.

I love that they're doing a sale for all 3 games together on Steam right now. That's the best way to package these games right now, IMO.

Oh wow, I had no idea that was a thing. Does anyone know how long that bundle has been available? The fact that Sega and Deep Silver would bother to work together for something like this is very interesting.

Guess which game is number one?

I love that in Shenmue III we can see some moments that Ryo is more relaxed and calm, a little happy. I don't know if this was intentional on Yu Suzuki's part but I really love this in the game.

I don't remember Ryo doing faces like this in Shenmue I and II, but in Shenmue III i saw a different side of Ryo, i saw him opening more about his feelings with Shenhua and being more calm and i love this.

And we can even see Ryo laughing for the first time in the Shenmue series.

Another detail i love about the game is when i got to 10th dan in Bailu Hall or Wu shen Hall, i remember that Ryo said something like this... "Father... are you watching me?" I don't remember the exact words but it was something like this, is a really nice detail in my opinion.

I played this game in a slow way, really taking my time with the game like Yu Suzuki said, this was his advice for the players, i felt this game with all my heart and it was a beautiful experience to me.

i'm not saying the game is perfect, i think Yu Suzuki had a lot of problems in the development of Shenmue III, i think he wanted to do more with the game, i think it was sad that Baisha was cut out of the game, maybe Baisha would be one of the last places and the final part would have been bigger and not rushed, but overall I like the final parts of the game, I really love Shenmue III.

For me Shenmue III is a reflective, introverted part of Ryo's journey, with a focus on training and strengthening the bonds with Shenhua, living a peaceful and quiet life in Bailu Village, like a second home for Ryo. For me Shenmue III is the calm before the storm, i really love that Shenmue III is this way,

He was this way with Fangmei in II and when walking with Shenhua, there are certain points where he smiles and is calm, like when talking about people in Yokosuka or bending down when he sees fireflies (which reminds me, I SAW ONE LAST WEEK!!! :D The first firefly I've seen in Canada since I was 4 or 5, which was in the early 90s! :D:D:D): especially the latter, he has a calm smile and is completely-relaxed, until Shenhua breaks the mood by saying to watch for snakes.
