Random Shenmue Thoughts

Never played Shenmue IIx and it seems to be the general consensus that the music was worse (e.g. wrong music for Guilin Introduction and The Story Goes On...), but I just listened to its version of the (already awesome) Wild Throw track and it's pretty dope:

Just randomly stumbled on this video of Suzuki being interviewed on TV about Shenmue in the 90s.

They go into his office and the mad lad is sitting there in a pink shirt and blazer with a freaking guitar right next to him.
Did this dude rock out in between meetings or something? :joycat:

If you have not bought the Shenmue 3 Pix n'Love Collectors Edition you still have a chance. They are currently in stock. Just bought another one. Don't miss out on this, once it's gone its gonna be hard to find.

Hell buy it keep for a few years and sell for 3x what it's worth when Shenmue 4 is announced.

I had much more fun with Shenmue 1 more so over Shenmue 3... I didn't want Shenmue 1 to end even to this day i still feel it playing decades later

Interesting first paragraph, then bullshit article below.

Sega exited due to mistakes with prior consoles, not because, "Sony's DVD player," killed it (we all know it had a hand in it, of course).

And then he proceeds to shit on Sega some more, because, "Sony could also make their chips in-house, while Sega couldn't."

So? Cost-wise, did it actually make a difference? (I have no clue)

Most likely, the Blackbelt Saturn-successor would've been just as convoluted for the sake of VF3 and Shenmue? Regardless, gimmie the ingenius, simple single core of Dreamcast. Besides, Naomi became much better than the Model 3 anyway.

Geez, i wish we had gotten a home console of Naomi 2. My ultimate far-out fantasy time-revision is playing Shenmue 3 on Dreamcast, then they're finished off in Shenmue 4/Shen5 on Naomi 2 home consoles baha.

saw this on reddit.

Hah, funny how that appears on the 15th of December, a few hours after I linked to Switch's article on ResetEra:

Seems like 90% of gaming "journalism" these days is scouring forums and then republishing articles :p I see the same thing on a Guns N' Roses forum I frequent where fan speculation gets spun into "articles" by certain websites.

Well shit, my retail copy of disc 3 freezes at 10pm the night of the 70-man battle it seems. :(

I guess this is what will finally get me to get GDEmu installed.

EDIT: God bless the internet and these 99min cds I bought a year ago! Now I am able to complete the game! :D

I think it was the Disc 2 of my US retail copy of my game that wouldn't work when I first played Shenmue back in 2000. Borrowed a pirate copy of the CD from the same shop I bought it from until they could get me a replacement copy :p

I had many issues over four different copies of Shenmue I. I think most of it was caused by my laser failing rather than the discs. Now I have the SD card reader installed.

I think it has more to do with the Dreamcast's laser lens being extremely sensitive to certain imperfections on a disc. Sometimes a game can look scratched to hell and work fine but sometimes there can be one tiny scratch and it prevents progression in the game.

Back in 2000 when I was starting my second playthrough of Resident Evil: Code Veronica, the game kept freezing every time I tried to walk up the stairs from the prison holding cell area at the very beginning of the game. There was one, barely noticeable scratch on the disc. So, I exchanged it for a new copy. It worked fine and still does to this very day.
