I created this thread so we can share informations, photos and videos about Bailu Village, or places that inspired Yu Suzuki to create Bailu in Shenmue III.

In the case of Bailu Village is hard because i really don't know where Yu Suzuki got the inspiration to create Bailu Village. On the internet i found some interesting things, i found one Bailu Village, but this Bailu Village don't have much similarities to the one that we can see in Shenmue III.

The Bailu Village i found is this one in the photos. One person said this "That's Bailu in Sichuan province, which is a town famous for its Church built by French missionaries during 19th century. Guilin is in Guangxi, there is no Bailu in Guangxi."

Then the OP said "Well now I'm confused. I thought the photos came from this location: Bailu Subdistrict, Liuzhou
Bailu Subdistrict is a subdistrict in Liubei District, Liuzhou, Guangxi, China. As of 2018, it has 2 residential communities and 4 villages under its administration."

So now i'm confused too, there is no Bailu Village in Guangxi? Maybe there is a Village in Guilin similar to Bailu but with a different name, i really don't know.

Another information i found: Bailu, Chongqing. Bailu is a town under the administration of Wuxi County, Chongqing, China. As of 2018, it has 2 residential communities and 10 villages under its administration.

Anyone have more information about this? anyone knows where Yu Suzuki got the inspiration to create Bailu Village? if you know more post here please, i will love to know more about this places.

Right now i will not create a poll for this thread because i don't know where is the place that inspired Yu Suzuki to create Bailu Village, maybe one day i will make the poll.

A few photos of the Bailu that i found.

It's great to see what actual Chinese villages look like. Sometimes very different to what you'd expect.

Here are a few more examples. In this list, the Chengyang Villages (near Guilin) and Wuyuan Villages seem like they could've provided some inspiration.
I will look this list, thanks orient.

This videos show more about the Bailu i found.

Description of the video - This is the actual town of Bailu. In 2008 the city was leveled by an 7.8 earthquake. It was rebuilt with a French theme and does not look like the village shown in these photos. Although Shenmue III contains a village by the same name, the two do not seem to be related. I posted this video back when our imaginations were running wild with what the town might look like in the game. Musical piece: Shenmue Reflections by Reuben Kee (R.I.P.)

Reuben Kee was a big Shenmue fan, right? really sad what happened. 😢
