Recent Gaming Purchases

I can't get on board with Tekken 8, I bought Tekken 7 at launch and after the 4-5 hour campaign I was over it. It never had enough offline features to enjoy it - All I want is Survival Mode... we've had this since Tekken 2 FFS. Don't even get me started on that E-Sports/MMO Meta Campaign Nonsense. I'll try it eventually but with years of DLC ahead I can't see myself trying anytime soon.

I haven't got much this month, did pick up a game i've been after for a while now - Song of Horror:

Plays like a traditional Survival Horror game but with interactive narrative elements to it. I've heard mixed thing but I've been curious to try it out. It has a few extra booklets with it too.

Beyond that, I gots:
Control: Ultimate Edition (PS5)
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut (PS4)
Fallout 3: GotY Edition (PC-DVD)
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (Xbox One - Digital)
Operation WinBack (PS2)

Tekken 8 is actually quite great much to my surprise. It's always been a consistently enjoyable franchise but never amazing or top notch but they did a great job with the story for 8 and actually went the cinematic route finally. The gameplay is also pretty solid. 8 upon first impression is easily the best title in the franchise whereas 7 felt like the worst outside of the original and possibly 4. The issue I had with 7s story was they went the route of using anime cartoon drawings for a large portion of the story mode rather than making it fully cinematic. It was 2015, no excuse to use cartoons when the technology to make something impactful was already available to them. I found the story to be a lot weaker too with Heihachi/Kazuya being the main focus instead of Jin/Kazuya.

I'm glad to hear it has been more enjoyable than 7. Sorry for coming off as a sourpuss, I've become sick of a lot of bad industry traits and fighting games tend to be the worst right now. Seeing these 'Meta' campaigns included just seems liked fluff to me and I find it really nauseating. I've struggled with Tekken ever since juggling became a core mechanic, it just seems really goofy to me - Of course it is infuriating to the player on the receiving end.

I recently replayed Mortal Kombat 9, 10 & 11 all in their complete forms and really enjoyed them - But much like other games of the genre I won't invest until a year or two when they release a Komplete Edition.

Understandable. Tekken 8 at launch feels much like Tekken 3 and 5 felt like when they launched in that its pretty damn perfect for its time. I'm obviously not comparing 8 to two older titles that are way outdated and hardly qualify as still being playable in the modern age, but the way that 3 and 5 felt somewhat revolutionary for their time is how 8 comes off, whereas 7 feels more like 4...an experimental stepping stone to the next title. There is still juggling and also a new heat mode that they ripped right out of Dead or Alive 6 that makes it incredibly simple to win fights when used, but it flows nicely together.

MK1 is excellent too I highly recommend(much better than Tekken 8). It's only 2nd to MK11 in terms of customization not being as good, as for lore, atmosphere and story? MK1 is the best yet.

Got a japanese copy of Gungrave for the PS2. This game flew completely under my radar. I found it by coincidence thanks to my YouTube feed which suggested a video of it. Watched the video and since it looked interesting I decided to get it.

Fantastic game! 9.5/10

I got F122 and i love the Myteam mode where you can create a team and be the owner/driver. The main screen is a fancy house/car where you can keep unlocked supercars as you progress.

Final Fantasy VII:Rebirth - Delxue Edition (PS5)
ImportedPhoto_1710424605453 (1).jpg
It's been an agonizing 2 weeks but my Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Delxue Edition has finally arrived!

The problem was simply that normal retailers are charging too much! It's £100 & While I am a big fan of the series the content in the DE isn't worth it! A steelbook, Sample OST CD & case sized artbook... it should really be around £60 - But then the game itself is now RRP at £70 which is also abusrd.

So... I had to resort to a cheaper retailer Coolshop. Now I have ordered with them before, I had the same situation with Final Fantasy XVI's DE. Coolshop were offering the FF7RE DE for £75, that while still more than I wanted to pay is more agreeable. The problem is with FF16 I had to wait a week beyond launch to get it. FF is my main game series so this was a tough decision but I decided £25 is £25 & that I could wait a week. Well, 1 week went by and had seen that tracking said Coolshop had it prepped for delivery still... So I went on Live Chat & put up with the most condescending assiting I've had to deal with - they literally used ':-)' with every comment even when not being friendly...

So it turns out Coolshop are baseed outside the UK & have to send the item through customs, yet tracking didn't not that - it was blank from March 1st - 13th! On March 13th I got an update and it was here the next day. It's all in good condition - Well the CD OST has a minor crack in it but I'm over it.

I'm a patient guy and already accepted it will be 1 week but 2 became torture! I had a great time yestersday diving into the game and already thrilled with it. I'm hoping by the time Part 3 is released that prices won't so ridiculous and the world will turn to right, as I don't want to have to resort to Coolshop ever again!
