Rens side quest reward.

On Saturday I did the side quest for Ren, got the reward of the china pot and a load of other stuff however....after passing Ren again I spoke to him (by pressing square for a side quest event) and he mentioned the pot and it being valueable and Ryo joked that he'd thrown it in the sea.

I was curious as to if theres any kind of relevance to this pot thing?

you have to go to a pawnshop and choose the sell option and then hover the jar that ren gave you. you'll receive a message on your notebook saying something like: ren gave you the jar without knowing is true value, than speak to him!
