General RGG Discussion

so 0 first the going chronologically through the rest of the re-masters?

Haven't started with the series myself even though I bought 6 for PS4, but I read 0 is definitely the starting point and the highlight of the entire series according to some diehard fans.

Personally, just as with Shenmue, I usally play Yakuza story first, then sidequests on subsequent plays. Only thing I really try to do on first run, but still don't stress about, is the locker keys.

@Mattis Yes. You're jumping in at the perfect time as well because Kiwami 2 is coming out the week after Shenmue I & II. Maybe the 3-5 remasters will be out before you have to get a PS3 for them.

Been a fan since the beginning. Other than Hokkaido, I’ve been to all of the locations featured in all 6 games.

My personal top 10
1. 6
2. 0
3. 5
4. Kiwami 2
5. Hokuto ga Gotoku
6. Ishin
7. Kiwami
8. 4
9. 3
10. Kurohyo 2

My favorite characters are Kazama, Majima, Akiyama and Ryuji

I am a fan of the Yakuza series. I started with yakuza 1 for the ps2 which I considered as nice, but not as that impressive. So i missed the other games. With Kiwami i gave the game I new try and this time I was impressed. After finishing Kiwami, i played 0 which was even better than Kiwami.

I pre ordered Kiwami 2 already and in the new future I want to play all the Games in the Yakuza franchise. I even want to give the Japan exclusives a try.

yeah i would love to play the two samurai Yakuza games but they never translated them
and i fear they never will. the two localization producers talked a bit about that in the Sega live streams
and they said that there are no plans or announcements and it would be really difficult to translate these games.

Yes that is a pity. It won't be easy to play these 2 Games for everybody with no Japanese Skills at all. But there are some guides in the internet so it should be possible to finish these games.

I am not sure though If fi should get these 2 james for my ps3 or if should wait for a potential Ps4 port. So far, Sega has only announced the port of 3, 4 and 5 for the ps4. But if these ports should be successful they are maybe considering to port Ishin and Kenzan as well.

hard to say. if i remember correctly, the head of the Yakuza games Toshihiro Nagoshi
said in a live stream that the Yakuza 3 - 5 remasters are for the newer Yakuza fans overseas.
so it seems like SEGA is making them so that we can have all of the main titles uncensored on one platform.

i dont know if they would remaster Ishin and Kenzan "just" for the asian market.
i think a remaster would make sense if they made a english version but thats probably not going to happen.

pretty strange, both games - Shenmue 1 & 2 PS4 / Xbox One and the Yakuza Kiwami 2 Day One Steelbook Edition PS4
are sold out here on Amazon Germany. i guess that french guy from Deep Silver wasnt lying
when he said that they will only produce a small amount of physical copies.

According to SEGA's recent fiscal report: Yakuza 6 is coming to the PC at some point when the current fiscal year ends. It seems like it'll be coming out some point after Kiwami 1 (so it seems to be following the same release order as the games did on PS4) a2gKq1F.jpg

i'm pretty sure Yakuza 6, Kiwami 2 and Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise will be available on Steam eventually.
there is no "only on Playstation" tag on the cover and with the release of Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1 on Steam,
i think its pretty likely that these newer PS4 titles will be PS4 exclusive for about 6-9 months and then they will release them on Steam.

I would love to play someday something like Yakuza Karaoke All Night like the Persona Dancing titles, I want all the Karaoke songs (and maybe dancing minigames) in one title

Haha same, this series would really fit a game of that style. A while back i even tweeted a mock image of the game at SEGA suggesting the idea haha. I know I'd buy it.

Of course, sometimes we get a bit too ahead of ourselves and you can't have too much of a good thing at once (but then again with S1&2 coming out now with 3 further ahead, sometimes you can! ??‍?)

I even suggested this not long ago for the lolz haha

I feel like that's gotta just be a typo. It also says release in April so... I'm sure it'll eventually come to PC at some point but I'm not sure that what this report is implying is that it's coming out this fiscal year...

I have to be honest about my experience playing Yakuza 0, it feels similar in controls to the first one I played. I think that comparing this to Shenmue would not really be valid and does not really feel at all like the game (something I have heard frequently). In regards to my opinions on the game, at first I felt it was quite repetitive and over the top but now I am starting to enjoy the game a bit, I suppose it takes some patience. There is so much to do I just need to absorb everything. The storyline seems very interesting and the graphics and detail are amazing on my PC.
