General RGG Discussion

I really dont understand stuff like this.
Okay, so maybe your country doesnt have any kind of sexy ads on the streets or sexy tv spots or whatever, fine.
But why is it like a global problem instantly just because you feel uncomfortable?
If you feel uncomfortable in your own four walls, playing a officially rated videogame
with warnings about content XYZ, then you are the problem, or not?
You are playing / seeing a product from another country,
how hard is it to understand that your own country, rules, laws etc is not representative for everything for the whole world?
'Its in bad taste' ... its in bad taste because you see real existing streets recreated in a game
because the game takes place in these streets?

And then the second thing,
what is it with people who instantly feel uncomfortable because of 'sexy bikini girls'.
Like ... we are not talking about any nudity at all, none, zero.
But everytime there is a conversation about Yakuza 0 or 6 or Kiwami 2 etc
i hear things like 'yeah but watch out, theres porn in the game',
'i was really surprised because of the nude models', 'actual real girls are showing skin in this game, its weird',
'this series has extreme lewd content' ... streamer on Twitch and Youtube covering their eyes
because its so hardcore (lol).
there is no porn, there is no nudity, its not even TV late night softporn level ...
How is this the threshold of discomfort?

What happens if these kind of people would visit a beach in Italy or whatever
with topless women and bikini thongs, would they get a heart attack?

It's like none of these people have ever been to a beach in their life time? ;)

Man, I kind of like the fact that I grew up in the late 90s/early 00s with full access to shock content thanks to this thing called the internet...they think a few bikini girls are offensive and hardcore? I'd hate to show them the sick twisted delights of the internet :D

Seriously, I think its more posturing than anything...or the "nice guy" factor. "Look at us, we're nice respectable guys. We don't need porn. We respect women." and so on and so on....when in reality, you know half of these assholes who preach this shit probably have their internet history full of...let's say lewd material.

They think of themselves as being the hero of their story ushering in a new era of understanding when in reality....they sound like this guy...

I've never had an issue with the real life photos of girls in Yakuza. Ever walked around Kabukicho? It's pretty much the same thing in real life. You'll see that shit everywhere in Kabukicho.

And two, for anyone who has spent time talking to the hostess girls in these games. You actually do get a fair amount of character and they aren't just "objects."

I don't know...I just find that stuff more so goofy than erotic. It's so soft core that it's hard to get aroused but also kind of hard to really get offended by it.

Hell, I think GTA 5 is way more lewd in its depiction of NPC strippers...not that I care or pretend to be the moral police on that (because I don't care about it one iota - to care about something like that in GTA would be foolish) but at least the depiction of these women in Yakuza sometimes have character as opposed to just being straight up objects like they are in GTA.

I don't know. I just don't see the fuss. It's no worse than what you see on TV or in real life at times. It's just a bunch of models or AV actresses in bikinis...big deal...you can see way worse online if you look for them in other means. Trust me, those screaming "offended" have probably seen way worse on red tube. ;) It's all posturing and nothing more...but still irksome as all hell to hear.

$50.00 says he's American.

Literally, it's a throwaway line that is used as a gag on a not-too-great, but hilarious and super good-time film, but it rings so damn true:

The problem I have is, just don’t play the game if it offends you? Why should every product cater to every person on earth’s sensitivities? Do they realize Japan is a much different country than wherever they’re from? Whether or not these images are exploitative, shouldn’t that be up to the culture that produced them?

I post there, but I shy away from making any political issues out of the video games I enjoy. It’s extremely difficult, believe me.

Recently on Twitter, I encountered someone who called VF5’s Netcode racist. I said, “What!?” They earnestly replied with some image that showed me how the routers are all in Europe and North America, not in countries in certain areas. Maybe unfair... but racist?? Sega of Japan decided to be racist rather than profit on the most users possible? That really makes sense? Could it be they lack access to infrastructure in certain places or are simply short on budget?

We need help.

(I am not even remotely conservative... just putting that out there)

Guys thats just political correctness. It's a tactic to get laid. A very pathetic one. Never works btw. But dont tell them, let them dream. In the meantime, Yakuza series and Judgement are releasing more and more games worldwide.

First, hopefully none of the ladies are being exploited and held against their will (odd assumption to make?)

Second, feels like the poster's heart's in the right place but are a bit immature thinking a bikini or nude model automatically need saving. Sex work is real work and usually they're badasses!

Third, you can see problems in your favorite media without having to stop playing. There's plenty of social issues I don't like in MGS, Yakuza and even a bit in Shenmue, but if the overall game has redeeming qualities and without major discrimination or prejudice central to playing and plot, I can both criticize and enjoy them. Rather than boycotting outright on one hand, or simply saying "OMG WOKE CANCEL CULTURE" on the other--there's an in-between; intelligent social critique can be valid while still loving a game/movie/book/song.

Thirty most popular AV idols, as voted by fans in an earlier poll, were also announced to make cameo appearances in the game, with the top 10 having more significant roles (the top five would appear as the highest tier hostesses in the cabaret club minigame).

Its pretty clear that this stuff isnt just some random RGG Studio fan service.
All of it, idol videos, pictures, cameos, etc are collaborations with
the agencies of the girls. They even put the girls names on the cards and posters so you can easily google them.
Those arent random invited girls who work for free.
This stuff is heavily regulated, some videogame developer studio cant simply call a AV or idol
girl and tell her to be in the game. We are not talking about some hardcore woman
who is looking for work in LA. Even the male (model) cast arent random guys,
they were invited to work for the project.

Yeah assumed so, otherwise they'd be using them illegally

Obviously exploiting workers ain't cool, but I don't see how applies to Yakuza

Still have that page bookmarked on my old laptop lol (when the voting took place). Sadly, not knowing whom any of them were, I just voted for whomever and none of the chicks I voted for got in lol :(

Lost Judgment Will Include a Fully Playable Sega Master System In-Game

New footage of Lost Judgment has revealed that the game includes a fully playable Sega Master System. Replacing the pinball machine in detective Takayuki Yagami’s office, the playable console continues the series' celebration of classic Sega games, and strong variety of minigames.

There are other new gameplay scenes in that Youtube video too

Too bad it wasn't a SEGA Saturn ;)

Thought id visit the thread as i downloaded Yakuza 7 like a dragon.

God, i didnt think id run into resetera nonsense. Those people are insane. The dude who posted that comment is either posturing as @danielmann861 said, or as @Sput Vas Normandy mentioned, using the nice guy innocent tactic, which if you're a man and have been around the block a few times, you would know that doesn't work one bit.

I'm playing an R-rated adult game, so gimme all the R rated content you got. That applies to both sexes, violence, curse words, edgy dark humor, etc. Gimme all of it. I'm going to enjoy it. No f*ks given. If the game offends you or makes you feel uncomfortable, here's an idea. Don't play it. It's not rocket science.

Random side note: My female friend was looking at a magazine the other day and it had a male with his top off. She was enjoying the view. How dare she?? what an absolute monster. I felt very uncomfortable (Sarcasm). Resetera should be renamed to crazyera. Those people have no clue about reality.

I hope GTA6 comes out and it offends everyone. Ramp it up x100. The normal sane people will realize its a game, enjoy it and then go about their life. The crazies on resetera and social media will be offended, outraged, and start their regular pitchfork nonsense. We can all laugh at them, so its a double win for the rest of us.

Anyway, i'll update you lot with my thoughts on Like A Dragon when i play through it. I'm hoping to get Judgement and some point aswell, but i really want a PC version. Here's hoping.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and games are trying to always target bigger markets (or lower common denominator).
Times change and so on, and I just took the same approach with videogames that I take with hollywood movies and accept they're products., that will keep being censored/sanitized and gaming is not as it used to be.
BTW, I don't believe for a second that most people that talk like that guy in resetera actually believes that shit, it's just another person looking for social approval IMO.
I hope GTA6 comes out and it offends everyone.

I wouldn't bet on that.

I wouldn't bet on that.

THAT E3 conference is a reminder of how shit E3 was this year. I don't know which was worse? Take 2's hour of preaching...Bandai Namco's showing off of one game and then ending abruptly or the massive amounts of self congratulatory bullshit from streamers and influencers (god I hate that word) alike. I thought E3 was about video games?

As for GTA 6...I do worry about that considering the Housers are gone from Rockstar...hopefully whoever takes it over remembers it is a satire aimed to mock everything and not a serious crime drama. Hopefully whoever is left at Rockstar North remembers what GTA actually is...

Although at this point, I wonder if we will ever get a GTA 6 considering how much money GTA Online makes.

Having a Sega Master System is such a nice touch. I liked the first one but always thought about how I couldn't wait to see what they do in the second one. The first one was a nice first step.

With the last Yakuza I didn't really dig the characters all that much or the turn based system. So the Judgment franchise will probably be my go to from now on. I doubt I'll play another Yakuza again and that sucks cause I loved the series. Lost Judgment is my most anticipated game of the year.

A bit of a side note but what new idea or franchise would everyone like to see next from RGG

I'm not at all saying that they took my suggestions (lol) but on Gfaqs, on the boards for the most-recent title in the series at whatever time (5, then Ishin!, then 0, etc.), this question came up frequently and I only ever suggested 3 things:

1. A RGG title from around WWII's end, to show how the country was being rebuilt from the atrocities and the bombs that were dropped, which would've coincided around the time of the Tojo Clan's beginnings (though this would mean no Kiryu, so that idea wouldn't fly), including a young Kazama, Shimano, Sera, etc.. We got a tiny, brief glimpse of that in 6, which I was OVER THE MOON about (as I wasn't expecting the Secret of Onomichi to be what it was :D), but of course, not an entire game centered around that plot point.

2. A RGG title with Kiryu as a teenager and to show his dynamic with the fellow orphans, as he grew up and began to emulate Kazama. As much as I give shit to 2, it was actually the flashback scenes that sparked this interest in me lol. Basically, we got this with 0, albeit Kiryu is a young adult and not a teenager anymore. There wasn't enough Yumi in 0 and from what I would've wanted, that would've been the main area to explore in an earlier-set game, as Nishikiyama would've been along for that ride as well (don't like him, never have, but they are connected quite-well, pre-1).

3. A RGG title where the plot revolved around all 3 of the major Southeast-Asian countries' respective mafias (Triads, Jingweon and Yakuza), as the Chinese were only ever a part of 1, 3 and not any other title (and even then, it was just Lau Ka Long and Hamazaki's dealings with Yokohama). We got this in spades with 6 and, of course, for 7, this was basically the entire backbone of the plot.

So I'm still gung ho over the Tojo Clan's origins, but other than that, the titles that have been released have satisfied what I want to see lol.
