Sega from 2015 to today: Have they "re-established the Sega brand?"

I'm not hating on Sega I have a general question to ask. Sega loves putting out surveys asking what gamers want, does anything ever really happen from those surveys?

I always get the impression that Sega’s surveys aren’t a means of asking people what people want, but more a case of confirming that there’s a market for whatever it is they happen to be working on at that time.

Did you guys see the news about Sega wanting to aggressively pursue porting their library to Steam now that they see how well their ports sell?

I’d love them to port Shenmue HD to Switch. Assuming the switch is powerful enough to run it I think it would sell pretty well - especially over here.

Yeah I think it's a no-brainer to re-release old games on PC, especially high in demand titles from their backlog and any IP they're ever considering to revive. I would love to see Skies of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon Saga (though apparently it's rumored they lost the source code for this?), Dragon Force I&II, Shining Force III, and Outrun 2 (I'm probably missing a few!). You're not gonna get any money from these when folks buy them on ebay for $100-$1000, so just get these on PC and roll the dice. Maybe they'll be surprised that there's an audience for these.

And also this!

Panzer Dragoon Saga (though apparently it's rumored they lost the source code for this?)

According to Yukio Futatsugi (the team leader at Team Andromeda), Sega did indeed lose the source code.
They could do a raw data dump (like what happened with Princess Crown for PSP), but at this point I think Saga would really need a complete remake from the ground up. The problem is getting the right team to do it justice.

SEGA has announced that Herzog Zwei will be the last SEGA Ages game for Switch. However, the company is stating that they will continue with re-releases for the platform! In addition, the former SEGA Ages team’s next project is already in the works for Switch. Here’s what SEGA had to say, courtesy of Nintendo Everything:
“Although the SEGA Ages project has come to an end with the release of Herzog Zwei, there are many games in the collection you can still buy and play. So please check them out if you don’t own them yet. However, this doesn’t mean that this is the end of SEGA’s plans to re-release past titles. I, along with SEGA’s own (Rieko) Kodama and (Kagasei) Shimomura, are currently hard at work on our next project. At this point in time, unfortunately, I can’t tell you whether or not M2 will be involved. If this makes you think, ‘Oh, then they’re definitely doing something with M2,’ I hope we can live up to your expectations.
Considering SEGA Ages has ended, some may be wondering if we have plans to continue re-releasing past titles on Nintendo Switch – I want that to happen. I hope to bring something over that will really satisfy Switch players. So until then, we hope you’ll look forward to it.”
M2’s Tsuyoshi Matsuoka also shared the following:
“For us at M2, there are still a lot of other titles we want to port over as well. Personally speaking, I want to re-release SEGA’s entire history of interactive games!”
