Shenmue Announcement Predictions

Hey everyone! Now that we know for sure there is an announcement in store for us Shenmue fans soon, I thought i'd put up this poll here to see the fans input on what we think this new Shenmue project will be. There's many things it could be. Personally I think it'll be an anime. :)

Someone on Resetera says Crunchyroll has an event this weekend... they're an anime streaming platform. No other events that fit the bill.

I hope it's a transition piece between 3 and 4, that can give depth to characters like Niao Sun, and Ziming, who I think should have been in 3.

I want a prequel featuring the origin story of Iwao Hazuki training with Lan Di's father Sunming Zhao in Bailu village. How did he obtain the mirrors? And make it with that classic 70s/80s/90s anime style not the modern digital shit out now.

I wouldn't mind an Anime, I've been watching the Zone of the Enders Dolores'i series and it's an enjoyable romp - A Distant prequel which then overlaps the 1st game story. I'd happily take something like this for Shenmue as long as it doesn't intrude with Ryo's journey/perspective.

Going to say if it's an Anime or OVA I give it a 30% chance that it will be an Adult Swim as an Exclusive; and a 70% chance it will be somewhere else, Hulu, funimation, netflix, crunchyroll, amazon prime. or some unknown steaming service in that order of likely-hood.

And if it's a novel or manga I think it will be released on a print to order basis, Amazon KDP, Lulu, or maybe even ingramspark. Kickstarter worked so why would they not try to use a self-publishing model where they only print what they sell. It's a lot less risk and it could be PR move to see what interest still lays with the franchise before moving forward.
