Shenmue II's hellish music

It is bothersome indeed, but you guys are really offput this much?

I just had a wonderful time doing, "disc three," because its arguably my favourite part of my entire gaming life; yes, the music sucked for a good part of Kowloon, but it was still a wonderful time.

Good news is that nothing in the Yellowhead is screwed up, so the, "best hour (and a bit) of gaming," is still perfection :).
Shenmue 2 is probably my favorite game of all time. The music is integral to it; even more so than the first since there is much more of it. The out of tune music completely takes me out of the experience.

I am still playing it but it is extremely irritating. Nothing would stop me playing this ultimately

Sorry if this has been addressed in a separate thread already but is there a comparison video demonstrating these audio problems in Shenmue II? I'm debating holding off until it's patched but I want to get an idea of just how egregious the problem is first. Thanks!

Here's a obvious sample of Shenmue 1 Hang.On I reported with the tape and jukebox:

What it should sound like:
That's and the weird sfx cutting out randomly on things.
Shenmue II this guy did a compare:
That's not all the spots by no-means, the arm wrestling music when I first got off the boat was off. But I stopped playing at Queens St. cause it really pulls me out the game.
Also a thread in the modding section discuss doing a restore of audio across the board and dives a little into what issues/changes were made int hese ports regarding audio.

Ah, phew, ok. This isn't bad enough that I need to hold off my playthrough. Hope they patch it though!

Yeah just play it back on dreamcast can't go wrong. ;)

Just curious, when you play Shenmue II on emulation with something like nullDC, is the music equally borked?
Is the Yamaha chip in the Dreamcast just a real bitch to emulate?

Since they used the Xbox source code that shouldn’t have even been a problem which makes it even more a mystery since the music in Shenmue 1 is fine for the most part.

I know that Demul authors had to figure out how digital filter works. They were able to get somewhat similar to real hardware results. The problem is that nobody knows how it actually should work.
