Shenmue Orchestra Version - Will this ever be re-released?!

Hi,

As much as I love my DataDisc Vinyl Edition of the Shenmue Soundtrack, I've always had a great love for the 'Shenmue Orchestra Version' even more!

I adore this and listen to it easily on a weekly basis (more like 4/7 days) I really do adore this and would love to own it... but sadly it is so scarce - I'ev spent the last month arguing with a seller no eBay to sell it for a responsable price... not happening.

So I am wondering if there is any hope in hell that this can be re-released? & Whom would be the ones involved? Wiki says:
In 1999, the arrange album Shenmue Orchestra Version was released. The music was performed by the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra with erhu player Jia Peng-Fang.

I would just love a chance to get this, even more so on Vinyl and was curious if this was a SEGA production or Polygram thing?

The Data Discs vinyl is probably the best we'll get to a re-release of sorts for the soundtrack, but I agree, a re-release for both this and the Original Soundtrack would go down a treat...especially if it meant a similar double pack for Shenmue 2...they have an opportunity now to release that games soundtrack finally!

Hopefully with the rerelease of I and II and with the upcoming III, things like this will be rereleased as well. Let's hope!

I'm thinking the same thing as Dave. If the HD re-releases prove to be a success, its likely that we will see some form of official merchandise come out, be it OSTs, t-shirts or some kind of limited edition version of the games that come packaged with a soundtrack of some sort. :geek:

edit: you know I might prefer it if they did new orchestral recordings of maybe a few select pieces to commemorate/capitalize on the re-releases.

we need the complete work of Shenmue 1&2 without any missing pieces which could end up with more than 10 discs worth of music.
i still demand it and i believe this could happen in the future if SEGA saw the big potential after the performance of the re-releases. a 20th anniversary surprise next year would be great!

Yeah, as great as the soundtracks for Shenmue are, there are still so many incredible music pieces that didn't fit onto them.

Also the Shenmue OST is kinda unique in that it doesn't use the versions found in the game and instead goes for the technically superior demo versions with more realistic instruments. While this is great to have and some tunes come out better than the ones in the games, some suffer a bit from the piano playing in a different key. Nothing wrong with that itself but when you've heard it dozends of times from the game first it's not quite right. The game versions deserve to be on a soundtrack for sure.

As Shenmue II never got anything it makes that one even more important. And a full set would surely be one of the biggest soundtracks in gaming history with its 700+ tracks.

I am wondering if maybe the soundtrack rewards for the Shenmue III Kickstarter will include remasters of any of the official soundtracks.

Sigh Looks like I'll have to have a word with the seller, which from what I gather they aren't English too.

I had the exact same thing with my Final Fantasy VIII Piano Collection CD too. Buying Video Game Music is hard :p

The Orchestra Version is superior than the game tracks. I hope they get a new release someday, should've been with I&II imo.

I'd LOVE to see the Orchestra version on Vinyl some day. Really would...but alas, probably won't happen...but we said that about Shenmue III as well and look where we are now so anything is possible :)
