Randomizers can make for some real fun and bring attention to game series. One of the most popular randomizers is for Sonic Adventure 2.
There's certainly no lack of videos for it. But what if Shenmue had one? With the amount of characters and dialogue there is in the shenmue games, it could make for some great fun and hilarious moments as well as bring potential new fans from seeing funny videos of it on youtube.
Some ideas that could work:
- Voice lines being randomized (option for using other characters dialogue or sticking to the same character)
- Models being swapped between screens (loading screens/cutscenes)
- music changing between scenes
- Purchasing items at stores give you a random item
- Possibly an option to have different cutscenes play for certain moments in the game (similar option in the SA2 Randomizer, basically jumps you between different game moments in a disorderly way)
Those are just some ideas but I think a randomizer would be a great fit for shenmue! Not sure how feasible it is for Shenmue 1 & 2 (or 3, or even the upcoming dragon & phoenix editions that are coming) but it'd be great to have something like this in the community!
