General RGG Discussion

Excellent; good to know that grinding will be a bit easier/more efficient as time goes on; before getting into the quiz substory, I walked over to the Chinatown area and fought guys at levels 20 and 23.

Given that everyone is 19 or 20, I thought it wouldn't be too big a deal... and I got absolutely thrashed lol.

Gathering from what you wrote above, the underground dungeon in Yokohama is definitely the way to go and skip the other dungeons in the other cities? (if Sotenbori even has one)

Guess I better hustle on to chapter 7 then...

-- In Yokohama there is an underground dungeon.

-- In Sotenbori, there is the battle arena (which dishes out decent XP if you want to grind it). It also gives you some of the best items if you meet the victory conditions. Which are not that hard.

-- In Kamurocho is another underground dungeon with higher level enemies (ranging anywhere from lvl 30 to lvl 60)

Kamurocho underground dungeon doesn't open up until literally the last chapter. The Kamurocho undergound dungeon plays host to Lvl 50 homeless people...which dish out something like 400,000 XP. But everyone else in the Kamuro dungeon is pretty high level and still dishes out decent XP as well.

The wild homeless people in the underground dungeons are really the ones you want to target since they give out the most XP.

For the most part, you will probably do most grinding in the Yokohama dungeon. I was mostly spamming the end of the Yokohama dungeon. At the very end of the dungeon is a save point and health bar. Also on that same level are two homeless men you can farm. It's a grind, but it was the most effective way to lvl up. It was how I built everything up to Lvl 50.

The only problem with the wild homeless men is that they have a tendency to flee the battle. If you straight attack them you will only do 1 point damage to them and that's useless when they straight up flee mid battle. There are two characters in your party who you need to rely on to effectively beat them. Eri's Lucky Punch technique does sufficient damage to them (something like 126 point damage) and Han's rapid shot also works a treat on them getting their health down 3 quarters.

Anyways, farming the wild homeless men was the most effective way to lvl up I found. In Yokohama, they'll dish out 70,000 XP while in Kamurocho they dish out like 400,000 XP. The best way to level up by far that I've found.

Y3 Chapter 8, saved R.
Still enjoying it. I like that so far the plot doesnt have too many characters,
its relatively easy to follow. Sometimes i get kind of lost in these games with all the clan names, character names
and twists. I dont have this problem with Y3 yet, so far its only like one or two clear situations
and you have to find out whats going on, thats it. I dont have to make notes or constantly look up who they are talking about.
I like that.

DONE!

96 hours later and I'm done with the main story of Yakuza 7.

88% Trophies.

Hell of a ride! One hell of a ride! I won't post my thoughts since I know @Truck_1_0_1_ is still playing, but yeah, hell of a ride!

Now to Platinum this thing! I have 4 more trophies until Platinum. Most of the big grind trophies are done. Also got to figure out how to trigger the last few side stories. Although, I have a feeling one is locked behind that one last exam that I can not beat. I have a feeling I won't get all side stories (not that I need it for the trophy but it would have been nice to complete them all)

Also got to figure out how to get to Executive Rank on the Bite.com thing. I'm at 233 of 300 points and I need that 300 for the Exec rank trophy. Not sure how to get it though...it seems like doing random shit in the world doesn't boost the rank. I've found all the Kappa Statues and Cats and that boosted me past 200 points. I read about some Egg collecting method but I have like 15 eggs and nothing has triggered regarding it. Every guide just tells me collect eggs towards the "Collect Eggs" but no idea why nothing will trigger. But yeah, not sure what is the best method to finish that one off. Will play around and figure it out though.

EDIT: I figured it out and got the Exec Rank trophy! I didn't realise most of the unfulfilled requests I had were just simple fetch quest type stuff. Figured it out though and got my rank up to Executive for the trophy.

91% with one trophy left until Platinum.

I finally got around to playing the Majima Saga in Yakuza Kiwami 2. I've mixed feelings about it; there's not much as far as gameplay, although playing as Majima again is pretty cool. I really dug some of the moments in the campaign though, like seeing Majima interact with characters that he never even shared the screen with in Kiwami 2, and the whole callback to Yakuza 0 was very touching.

Majima is a fucking badass.

Awesome, Dan! I'm hoping to ramp up some gameplay in the next few days, as Saturday not much is going on and Sunday I'm home, doing nothing for the entire afternoon (going Ice Fishing in the early morning).

Exciting stuff and the guides THANKFULLY work for the quizzes; just wish you could pause the game during the timer :(

I had this problem in Y3 with the side mission where you have to remember the ramen names for the customers.
I was like sure, i just write it down, easy ... and then the text boxes were on auto progress

The exams aren't too hard in Y7 as they do give you the answers at the end of each exam to see where you went wrong. That and each exam has about 7 or 8 questions in total. The exams are 5 of those 7 or 8 questions and the earlier exams only ask you to get 3 out of 5 for a pass mark. You can at least pay attention to the Japanese characters and get a gist for what to pick from exam to exam.

I managed to get 9 out of 10 exams passed.

It's just the last exam that sucks as it jumbles up every question from every exam and asks you to get all 5 correct in order to pass. I've gotten 4 out of 5 at best but always flub at least one question.

When it gets localized, it won't be hard to pass though as the questions themselves aren't too taxing once translated.

------------------------------------------

And so begins my preparations for the Armon fight that awaits in the Millennium Tower. Was reading one of the guides. Apparently you only get one shot at the tower...if you die then there is no retry, it's just straight back to the title screen. No save points inside the tower either...but apparently they do give an option to leave the tower and return to said level at the end of every floor.

And the enemies inside apparently range from lvl 60 to 80 and are aggressive...not to mention Armon has a one hit kill attack (although thankfully I have two defense accessories to nullify that.)

My player lvl is at 70 now. But I've got to rank up the recommended jobs to lvl 30 that the guide suggested to use in beating said tower. So I anticipate more grinding of the Kamurocho underground dungeon tonight.

Probably gonna aim for lvl. 85 before I even dare enter that tower.

Yakuza 7 Platinum Achieved!

Time to achieve: 101 hours
Trophy Difficulty: 4 out of 10 -- Really wasn't too hard. Not as easy as the Yakuza 6 platinum was, but comparable.

Overall rating of the game in general?

9 out of 10

Despite a few quality of life issues I have with it, I am really god damn impressed that they took the Yakuza formula and made a pretty damn solid turn based RPG out of it. It's practically Persona meets Yakuza in the best way possible and I loved the hell out of it for that reason. That and the story is really captivating. Definitely took some inspiration from Ryu Murakami's novel Coin Locker Babies I felt.

Ichiban is an awesome protagonist and I can't wait to get into more mishaps and adventures with him should the series carry on (which it probably will)

I kind of want to talk about the ending, but I really don't want to spoil anything so I'm gonna keep my silence.

As for the final fight with Amon?

I will say Amon was not as bad as I thought he would be. With the right jobs completely maxed out, the right people, the right equipment and lvl 80 across the board got the job done in one sitting. Really not as bad as I thought it would be....I'm almost disappointed it was as easy as it was. I was expecting to be raging over this one...but surprisingly no. Amon's pretty damn easy to beat. But again, I had a defence item that nullified his death blow equipped so I can only imagine how it might be for people who didn't know that before hand and went in blind. I admit I looked up a guide before I went into the tower.

Great game. I still kind of want to go back to it and try and get the last of the side stories I don't have...and I almost want to do more of the Bite.com fetch quests....I will gladly do the Platinum again when the English version comes out later in the year.

Excellent :D wonderful to read!

For that last quiz, is it required to get Platinum or no?

I'm all about completing something once I've started it, but if it is indeed like that, then I may need to skip it for Platinum.

I've now unlocked the entire map and have done some Golf (awesome and a ton of fun); saved just outside the Dragon Kart area and will go from there this evening (if I have time, otherwise I'll tackle tomorrow).

Ran into those pervert-guys in the park at Level 38 and MAN do they give a ton of XP (for this point in the game). I wish they would constantly respawn so that I could just grind them now, but it looks like they're a randomly-generated enemy. Oh well.

No it isn’t. It’s only needed if you’re trying to get all side stories but there is no trophy for all Side Stories (only 40 pf the 52 are needed for the side story trophies). In order to date the girl behind the counter at the exam place, you need to beat all exams to activate her side story. I've dated every other girl in the game bar her because of that one last exam.

Btw, dont know if anyone cares, but there are some ... i dont know ... "problems" with the localisation of Yakuza 3-5 HD.
Instead of just translating, some of the translators probably thought that it would be funny
if they put some modern meme stuff like "420 blaze it" into the game (text boxes)
and some people complained about that, so the localisation team is currently working on that
and they want to patch out all of the western memes in the text boxes, no joke.

Yakuza 7 will get a alternative hard mode for NG+ but its not free, you have to pay for it.

Yeah...don't know how I feel about that. I don't really have a problem with DLC in general, but I do think something like New Game + or a Difficulty option shouldn't be something you should pay for.

Its a tough topic. I mean i can understand paid DLC's like special costumes / items or whole new Add Ons like in Witcher 3
but some companies still overdo it way too much, like Koei Tecmo with their DoA 5 & 6 costumes where
the full package would cost you something like 800 Dollars, or the Dynasty Warriors 9 season passes with costumes
and scenarios and they release like three season passes each 50 Dollars. Thats pretty hardcore.

And locking game modes for the main game behind a paywall feels a bit sketchy too. Especially if it doesnt even change
the main story or anything, its just a alternative gameplay version.
On the other hand, looking at Yakuza 7, you already get a 60-100 hour game full of content for the normal price.
Its not like there isnt already enough content in the base game.
It just feels a bit wrong because difficulty levels and NG+ was always included in the other games
and now suddenly its not. If this stuff is just 3, 5, 8 Dollars, okay, but they are walking on thin ice in the west
if they try the same strategy with "us". The Youtube guys probably already have their binoculars in hand.

I dont know if this is worth it, it has the potential to worsen RGG's and Sega's reputation.

It doesn't sit well with me and sets a precedent, especially if people bite and buy it for say $2 or something.

Youtubers will go after it and IMO rightly so.

Still roaming around chapter 5, trying to figure out the business mini-game (think I have, at this point, but not entirely sure lol) and still slowly grinding/doing byte.com requests and just trying to get everything done that I can, as there is now a ton to do in-game.

It is such a brilliant title, I don't know how anyone could NOT like it! :D
