While the original game was released over 20 years ago, it still holds up today. While the game could get ridiculous with its selections, we still have yet to get a sequel.

If there was ever a sequel to Fighters Megamix, what characters would you like to see aside from the original cast?

Ryo
Lan Di
Xiuying
Ren
Chai

Kiryu
Majima
Gouda
Akiyama
Saejima

Sonic
Knuckles
Tails

Segata Sanshiro

The duo from Dynamite Cop/Die Hard Arcade

Axel
Blaze
Skate

And too much to list

I've been saying it would be great to get a Virtua Fighter 6, but I forgot about Megamix.

The first four Shenmue characters you listed would be absolute necessities, but I would throw Chai into a list of "optional extras" along with Guizhang, Dou Niu, Iwao, Fuku-san, and Master Baihu. For shits and giggles, I'd even throw out Yamagishi-san, Shozo, Terry, Delin, any of the Four Wude teachers, Yuan, and Cool Z. Honorable mentions to Hanhui, Eileen, Izumi, the "blind" Chinese fiddle player, Rod Stunt, Greg More, and Chunyan. You could make a fighting game with only Shenmue characters if you really wanted to, especially with additions from Shenmue III.

Some other Sega characters I would consider are:
Some of the Fighting Vipers cast (never played either of the games, so I'm not familiar with them)
Vyse and Aika from Skies or Arcadia
Beat and Gum from Jet Set Radio + Future
Rent-A-Hero
Ulala from Space Channel 5 + Part 2
Seaman
ToeJam & Earl

Bayonetta would definitely have to be in there. I thin Iwao could be snuck in as well as a Segata Sanshiro alt costume.

Man, that was a cool game. Kinda forgot about it....even though I probably still have my copy somewhere!
But yeah, a few Shenmue & Yakuza characters would be fun I suppose.

Izumi could be an alternate to Sarah and Chai could be an alternate to Leon

Rod and Greg could be alternates to Jeff and Wolf

Bayonetta would be awesome and I’ve never played it

Maybe Yu Suzuki or Yukawa could be secret characters?

Yeah, I really liked Fighters Megamix. How awesome would a new game be with a bunch of Shenmue, Yakuza, Valkyria Chronicles or Jet Set Radio characters? Even Persona characters are now possible, since Atlus belongs to Sega.

I am only see this happening after VF6, but I would love it even if they release it as a Switch low budget little

Fighter's Megamix was so cool... I've always been disappointed they never made a sequel, especially with games like Shonen Jump and Smash being such big deals now. It seems like it'd be a good time to follow up!

We'd definitely need some Golden Axe and Shining Force representation. I'd love to see something a little more obscure from the latter, like Medion from SFIII Scenario 2 or something.

So I’m guessing our next campaign is #SaveFightersMegamix?

I’m surprised it never got a re-release. I wonder if the source code is now lost

I wrote a series of top 10s on Gfaqs that literally discussed just that, back in '14 (or was it '15?).

It was 2 lists for characters, 1 for items, 1 for locations and 1 for... can't remember right now. (EDIT*: It was just 4 lists, my mistake!)

It was more along the lines of a Sega Mascot Brawler though, in the vein of Smash Bros.

Which would still be more than accepted, I'm sure :)

Here are the lists, if anyone is interested in an opinion: I didn't include the Sonic Universe, as that would have 50 thousand things in it.
