I’ve been meaning to post this question for a while now, but not really sure if it will be of any interest to anyone.

I think that Shenmue fans are quite different to regular gamers, maybe more patient and not just to do with waiting for the Shenmue III release but in terms of gameplay. Shenmue isn’t an action hack-and-slash or FPS type game it can be played very methodically and deals with a lot of feelings. All the Shenmue fans I’ve met are very easy to talk to and I get on well with them.

So, I’ve been thinking that maybe Shenmue fans have a similar way of thinking, and that’s why we all like the games so much. However, I might be totally wrong and we my all be totally different.

There are quite a few quizzes/tests online to find out about the way you think and if you’re an introvert (need time alone to recharge your batteries) or an extrovert (need to socialise to recharge your batters).

If anybody is interested, it would be great if you could do the quiz in the link below and post your results in the poll that I’ve created for this thread.

Here’s the link for one of the most popular tests (MBTI), there are also different languages available and I've listed a few:


I understand that everybody is different and individual, this test is just about the method of how we think, and not about what gives us our personal identity. In Japan they use this type of test when enrolling at a university or when applying for a job. It help the employer understand what sort of position is most suitable for the applicant. So it's not like asking what somebodies star sign is, there is more of a science behind it.

I wanted to list the total 16 types in the poll, but I was limited to 10 options, so I decided to group the different types together. I would be interested to read what types you are, so if anybody does the test, please feel free to let me know your type. I'm an INFP, and would fit into the Diplomat category. If you're into anime, films or novels you can do a search for your type and the chances are that your favourite protagonist has a type listed in the same format as the above test (MBTI). For example in the anime Dragonball, as an INFP I am meant to have a similar personality to Gohan, which I can really related to, Kamehameha!!!!!!　C================= |=ﾊ(￣皿￣　) ｶﾒﾊﾒﾊ!!

Also I should mention the test may take 12 or so minutes, so thanks in advance for anyone taking time out to take the test.
 
Very good. We are definately more patient but I think that has shown over 16 years!
 
wow, that was quick, thanks for taking time to take the text. I'm 67% introverted so I guess there is no trend between extroverts and introverts who like Shenmue.

However, something interesting is that the ENFJ's strongest function is Extroverted Feeling (Fe) and the INFP's (my personality type) strongest function is Introverted Feeling (Fi). Radar is an INFJ, which means that their strongest function is Internal Intuition (Ni) , however their second strongest is also External Feeling (Fe).

It's still very early days in terms of collecting data from other Shenmue fans, but for the three of us, our decisions are based on Feeling and Intuition.

I voted for INTJ and ENTJ. I have done these tests before and found that depending on my current mood I am either introverted or extroverted. But I consistently value critical thinking, and being ‘right’ all the time. But, if I’m proven wrong on something then I will accept it.
 
I'm INTJ and it is quite rare so I find it interesting we already have 4 votes on that (and INTP)

Hi Benwahwah, thanks for doing the test. Yes you're right, for some people the test results can change depending on what mood you're in.

There's a chance that you could be an ambivert (a person who has a balance of extrovert and introvert features in their personality), but I'm not sure how to tell.

For me it's simple to work out, I use up a a lot of energy in social events, and need to spend time alone to recharge my batteries (this means that I am an introvert). For extroverts they find it draining to be alone for too long, and need to socialise to recharge their batteries.
 
I've always gotten INFJ on these tests. I don't put that much stock into them. I do find it curious that INFJ is supposedly the rarest, but it seems like a lot of people I know get it.

Hi AlanH, sorry to hear that you don't believe in this type of test >_< The test isn't really a personality test as such, it's more to do with your thought process.

You know people who don't believe the test are ISFP's.
