Random Shenmue III Thoughts

I can't speak for everyone but my favorite gameplay element of Shenmue 3 is find Chobu Chan. On my first playthrough I didn't find all the Chobu Chans but when I start the New Game Plus+ mode ill find all of them. GOTTA SPOT EM ALL CHOBU CHANπŸ₯

I also thought that was a fun and a good idea! I makes you explore more in the game and forces you to actually look at the amazing details of the game. The herb collection was also a good idea. Hope they keep those things for IV.

One thing that I miss from Shenmue III that we had in the first game are animals.
I miss the pegions, the cats walking around and the dogs. In 3 you can hear the cats during the night but they are nowhere to find which is a little bit sad.

By the way, if you follow Shenhua around during the day (in her home) you can see her pet the cows and milk the goats.
She's just doing the movements, no buckets underneath or anything. Just a fun detail.

The first time I saw her milking the goats, I nearly cried.
It was just so Shenmue. The little details that are easily missed unless you are around to see them.

I'm going to buy it on both platforms when they come out just to give the series some extra support.
I really wish the series would also be sold on all other platforms like XBox one X and specially the Nintendo Switch because I think the series would fit very well in it and would also appeal to a lot of Nintendo fans.
 
Is the steam version going to be the "complete edition" ? Or it's going to force the players to buy the DLCs separately ?

We don't know at this stage. I'd go on the side of caution and say DLC will be seperate.

I think that their best option would be to sell the complete edition of the game with all the dlc's at the price of the standard edition "49.99$" and the standard edition for the same price as the Shenmue 1 & 2 hd collection "34.99$" since by then the game already came out a year ago.
If possible they should also make a special Shenmue bundle at launch by offering the Shenmue HD collection in the purchase of the Shenmue 3 complete edition.
 
One of the Limited Run guys is a Shenmue fan so maybe they'd be interested in releasing a "complete" physical edition. It would be nice if you could choose to enable/disable the story and casino DLC, although I think that together they enhance and flesh out Niaowu a bit which is nice. The only downside is the big gaudy boat sitting there, but eh, not a huge deal, plus it's not there the entire time.

It's possible I already tweeted the guy from Limited Run about releasing Shenmue 1&2 physical PC edition.

I feel like Yu Suzuki built Shenmue 3 the way it is on purpose to extend the playtime. The stamina meter, job/gambling payouts, fetch quests, 7000 yuan to learn the body check twice all felt like Yu wanted to dragout Shenmue 3. I'm not bagging on Shenmue 3 I believe Yu did the best he could with what he had.

Deep down I also feel like Yu probably sacrificed Shenmue 3 in order to fully flesh out Shenmue 4&5.



SIDENOTE: Can someone share the Shenmue 3 OST with me? I forgot to download mine and I'm pretty sure its expired.

Every developer does that.

Core Design slowed down Lara's running speed and disabled the sprint to artificially extend gameplay time of Tomb Raider AOD.

Square Enix increased encounter rate of enemies in FF X while making enemies to give less XP to increase gameplay time of that game.
