I think another thing for those disappointed is when we replay Shenmue 3 or let things settle there's a decent chance we'll end up appreciating what the game gave us. Before Shenmue II came out, I recall many fans thought Shenmue 1's story was disappointing because there was no fight with Lan Di, that we wasted our time playing what turned out to be a prologue, underdeveloped villains/supporting characters, who was the girl in the dream supposed to be, why is there a woman in the passport disc that we never even saw in the game etc etc. However it was only through replaying the game over and over that fans really appreciated the game and the story it was trying to tell.
