Hi folks,
In case you missed it, here is a quick update on some of the new content released for Shenmue day, as well as some forum news.
Bailu Soundtrack Video
Clocking in at just under 3 and a half hours, our Bailu Village Soundtrack features all of the in-game music from Bailu Village, accompanied with the relevant video. Track listings are contained within the description on Youtube, and there is also an album version that can be downloaded from our media section.
Shenmue 3 mod - Eric Kelso as Guizhang Chen
Produced by forum member @paddyj , the original voice talent of Guizhang from Shenmue, Eric Kelso, has kindly redubbed the phone call segment which the player can experience , once they reach the Niaowu Hotel in the game. This version is a 1:1 copy in terms of wording, and thanks for our administrator @LemonHaze , can be installed to the PC version of the game. You can check out the topic, as well as lots of other modding topics in our modding section below.
Staff changes
Unfortunately due to various reasons (mostly extended inactivity), some staff members have been let go:
@Mattis - administrator
@Henry Spencer - moderator
@BlueMue - moderator
@Spaghetti - moderator
@Jibby - moderator
The door will always be open for previous staff members to return if ever they wish to do so, and no one has left on bad terms. Real life offline will always come first, and that's always completely understandable. Unlike years ago, being a staff member here means a lot more than just watching over a few forums, and it would be unfair to those working every day to have other staff members on board who are inactive. I'e always said that being a staff member isn't a badge of honour, it's about being a staff member, and helping across all aspects of the site. Also, now that Shenmue 3 has been released, we can expect quieter times for a while, at least, until Shenmue 4 is announced. Until then, thanks to all the staff who are currently working on the site, and a thank you also, to those parting from behind the scenes. Thank you for all your help.
I should add, that we have added 3 new members to the team recently :
@LemonHaze - administrator
@24Nathan - moderator
@danielmann861 - moderator
Lemon has been a huge help since Mattis began to become less and less active to the point where we just had to let him go. Under the hood, a website is quite complex, especially when combining site software with forum software. Lemon came along at the perfect time, and has done miracles with the site to help keep it both functional and optimal. His work in the modding scene is something that's very close to my heart, and everyone involved in the Shenmue Reverse Engineering team i have so much respect for. Nathan you will know from the old forums as "Supa" , and has been around the Shenmue community for longer than i have, Daniel is a relative newcomer to the community, but showed a passion for Shenmue, as well as in-depth knowledge about the series, and i like to keep a balanced level of staff behind the scenes.
One more thing i feel i need to address in terms of staff, was the presence of an account called @Le Champion . The account was created a while back, with that username chosen because a lot of the staff have a fondness for professional wrestling, specifically the AEW brand, which is where that slogan comes from.
The idea of the account was one that was seen used on other forums, a bot account per sé, which all staff had access to. The purpose of the account was for any staff member to use the account to issue warnings or bans when necessary, whilst not inviting any backlash against their own personal account.
I understand the concept, but it goes against all what i have set out to do here as owner. It was a misguided move and i accept full responsibility for it. I apologise for its use, and say that it won't be happening again. The account still exists, but no one can access it. It is not a staff account, and i will not be deleting it so that the posts remain in place for anyone ever looking to go back and see them. I am not one for rewriting history.
All staff members have been briefed on their responsibilities, and that all action is carried out under their own accounts, It's not a popularity contest, and all staff know they are not prisoners here, and can leave the team if and when thet choose, with no questions asked.
