Shenmue IV Will Happen - Here's Why!

None of this means it will happen. Most are called ester eggs...

Sales = IV and so far they aren't anywhere near good enough sadly.

How do you know that the sales are not "near good enough"? Are you part of Ysnet, Shibuya Productions or Deep Silver? How do you know the sales when they are the only people who do? I'll answer that for you, you don't. You read some shit article about the Japanese sales of the game, an article that is terrible with little to no research and you think that just because the game sold 18k physical copies there that "they aren't anywhere near good enough".

You have no idea how much the game has sold globally. We have no indication of any digital sales from PSN or from Epic or any physical data from anywhere other than Japan (and a little of the UK charts - where by the way, digital sells more than physical), but still, you think it sold like shit. Even if it did sell like shit, this isn't some $100 million game, it cost ~$12 million, and even then half of that that was by backer's pockets. When Cedric, the guy who made this game happen in the first place, the guy who put up millions of dollars for the game to be made, the guy who has all the sales data and all the information to the cost of the game, the deals that were made etc, tweets out that he is happy with Shenmue III, don't you think that he might be the one to listen to?!? "Nope fuck that, game sold like shit"... Stop spreading this misinformation.

Getting tired of this shit around here to be honest. Would be nice if people used their own brains for once instead of reading something so dumb and just going along with it... Take this negative shit to the sales thread.

Knowing only two weeks of numbers from Japan, physical only and like one week of Spain, I think, is simply not enough to go on. Unless you think Spain and Japan dominate video game sales in the world. Do you know something we don't?

It's just a double V sign, popular when posing for photos in China. Maybe in Japan too.

I know that - but everyone else is holding up three fingers for Shenmue III. When posing for the photo they were probably instructed to the 3-sign. Except that guy.

Hey, let my ultra-omega-big-brain detective skills be

Also why was Yu telling people to play Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games? Is he somehow related to it? Ryo Dlc? 😂
Guessing folks he worked with at Sega were involved and he's excited about the olympics being in Tokyo. I also think mini games are sort of the extent of Suzuki's interest in gaming.

It crashed out of the 2nd biggest market(UK) after 1 week in which it failed to get into the top 10.
Have you looked at the top 20? Most of them have been there for months and are highly established titles. We're lucky it broke the charts in the first week.

Also remember digital sales arent tracked in the UK atm and digital outsells physical here

The game really didn't need to sell a lot to turn a profit. It cost non-crowdfund investors possibly $4-5 million, which is hardly anything for a series with such a hardcore fanbase (guaranteed sales). If Yu Suzuki were savvy, which we know he is, he saved or raised money from that period to continue keeping his studio open and active.

Is there a spot online where Japanese devs recruit? I'd definitely keep an eye out for that as we wait for SIV. The Ys Net page hasn't been updated in a while.

Lakshya congratulates YS Net Inc. on the release of Shenmue III. It was an honour for Lakshya to work on this iconic game. Many lucky ones from Lakshya got the opportunity to create 83 characters over a period of almost one year. It is thanks to the confidence placed in us by Yu Suzuki san, CEO, YS Net Inc, and the entire team, that we could be true partners and provide effective solutions to deliver high quality content at the best value. We look forward to working on Shenmue IV very soon!

Just being optimistic, or... ?

Yep as you said they have been in the charts for months and a game that fans have waited 18 years for crashed out after a week.
Yeah it doesn't include digital which would improve those games sales so make 0 difference to Shenmue

A game with a niche fanbase was always going to struggle to break the charts at peak game selling season.

Digital sales count. To say they'd have no impact on Shenmue III is stupid. It may not impact overall position but it all counts.

Look at the charts here:Screenshot_20200107-205623_Chrome.jpg

Theres no chance in hell Shenmue III would outsell any of those. Especially when over 70k people backed the game and the UK was one of the larger backing countries. Count those and it changes the picture.
