A duck is not a chicken. They fly away. I feel that catching “exactly 10 ducks” and being a total repeat of the chicken catching was a terrible idea. This particular part was the definition of padding. Go to “X” person for information on base... “X” sends you to “Y”... “Y” makes you do mini game..... “Y” will then send you to “Z” for fetch quest, etc. that is basically the formula.
 
You realize that you don't have to do the duck catching? There are several ways to pass that part of the story. so you can never actually know that there is a duck mini-game.
 
There are many species of ducks and some can't fly.
But even those who fly can be disabled : you just need to cut feathers from one of their wings. The peasants from 1987's Guilin know this trick for sure :D
