Yes, you have. You casually dismissed and then ignored when I provided evidence that Yu Suzuki prefers the English dub. And as already pointed out, the Shenmue 2 PAL Dreamcast version is not a literal translation.

lmao people in this thread have literally called for the English dub to be excluded from future titles, so of course dub fans are going to clap back. I thought the whole point of two dubs was so that each side could have their preference. That's why it was one of the earliest Kickstarter stretch...

It may have been in an old magazine, but I don't have the article on me. I would love to see the source as well. Shenmue: The Movie was advertised to Japanese audiences with the English dub, so that's pretty good evidence if you ask me.

It's pretty jarring at the beginning of the game. Not a good first impression. Let's recap the series intros. Shenmue 1: Iconic scene of Ryo arriving home and witnessing his father's murder. Very cinematic and dramatic. Shenmue 2: Epic boat arrival scene at Hong Kong. Again, very movie-like...

That's weird. I distinctly remember trying it on the first day, and it didn't work. Could be a weird re-release thing.

I have a question about your father's letter in the house. On my current playthrough, I cannot trigger the cutscene where Ryo reads it and says "My father must have known Lan Di was coming." Instead, the letter is just read in real time. Does this cutscene trigger only at certain points?
