General RGG Discussion

I'll just catch the highlights for the games. JST does not agree with my body most days (it really likes sleep!).

Anyway, only Saejima arena left, everyone elses done. Then its onto the 5ish side stories I have left and I'm done!

And we have another confirmed date for Yakuza 7 at TGS.

September 12 = 45 minutes introduction (Sega Livestream)
September 13 = 45 minutes combat (Sega Livestream)
September 14 = 45 minutes story (Sega Livestream)
September 15 = 45 minutes characters (Sega Livestream)
+
(New) September 15 = 40 minutes at the TGS Playstation Live Show (PlaystationJP Livestream)
(live stage demo, trailer, Q/A)

TGS shaping up really nice this year, makes me excited especially for the PS4 output, as it looks like I'll be getting quite a few games late this year/next year!

Yakuza 5 update: 99.5% now. Only Kiryu side stories and Amon left. Will probably finish that off tomorrow. The limited berserk arena fight was a pretty tough one to nail as Saejima as he has no healing and you really can't just try tanking everything, but his grab to leg swing was super effective on the enemies, and as I had enough health for the final fight I could use his Tiger Drop carefully to really do damage.

if its still not enough Yakuza 7 content for you, there will be a 45 minute section
on the Dengeki and Famitsu Livestream too. (game changes explained by Toshihiro Nagoshi)

so thats about four and a half hours of Yakuza 7 content just at TGS.

I assume some of the Dengeki and Sony stuff will be gone over in the main Sega streams, but yeah, that's a lot of Yakuza. I'm happy :)

Oh, Famitsu with the scoop already:

"
Summons

By paying money on your smartphone in battle, you can summon help. A large number of characters can be summoned, including Gary Buster Holmes, Gonda Wara, a crayfish, and more. Summons can support you in battle through attack, recovery, and more.

"

Lots to take in here. One piece of great news is my man GBH is back, I assume his Japanese will be as terrible as ever. But... a Crayfish? Why? Hows it got a cell phone, and hows it attacking on land? lol I fucking love Yakuza. Oh, and apparently (Google search) Gonda Wara is diaper man from Kiwami 2. Easy asset reuse there!

Carting makes sense if they have a bigger city, but it'll hinge on control and course design, well Nagoshi did create F Zero GX and I enjoyed the Drone Racing, yeah this should hopefully be fun.

Now gimme the arcade details dammit. Oh, and Pachislot... gimme cheat items to make them fun. I love the detail in 5's but actually playing them for the completion list would have been a nightmare without the cheat items.

Yeah, Kart racing will make me super happy; as mentioned above, a racing game for the series would be killer.

I think they experimented with Hokuto ga Gotoku, then tried to implement similar aspects for Drone Racing and both were met with positive feedback, possibly to set up one grand minigame in 7? :D

That Kart Racing makes it sound like Mario Kart....if so, I'm totally in! :)

Also, the cinema mini game sounds pretty cool to me. Sounds a bit Atlus inspired (battles a sheep man to overcome drowsiness; come on, that sounds totally Catherine to me; or it's just because I've been playing a shit ton of Catherine for the last few days; either way.)

151 hours later, Yakuza 5 has been 100%ed (again). Loved it, the Amon fights were fantastic and actually less cheap feeling that 4s so that was nice, while still being tough. Heck, even Haruka's optional Amon battles were a nice step up difficulty wise (and certainly welcome). Just polishing off the last couple of ultimate battles boss fights and Im basically done with the game, because I'm not replaying it twice more for the plat!

I want to play through Judgment, FOTNS, Kiwami 2 and 6 in English sometime. Not to mention replay Kenzan to actually fight Amon. And seeing that 7 is out soon... plus there are the English releases of the remasters... a lot of stuff more important compared to those two trophies ;) Plus I want a break from Yakuza, 5 was huge, and I can't imagine a replay even being a quick thing!

7 hours and 8 and a half hours from now for the first two Yakuza 7 TGS streams.
i think i will be awake because i can watch the FF 7 TGS Demo, Shenmue 3,
Yakuza 7 part 1, Nioh 2, Yakuza 7 part 2 and the Sony Show Livestream one after the other without a stop.
i hope there will be a lot of gameplay because i cant understand anything in the japanese live interviews.

Well, I did know. It just happens to be the place where another game we all know and love takes place. :)

Ahh, yeah. I dont know if thats just coincidence?
Maybe we can unlock a special forklift race ?
Wasnt there also a Shenmue reference in Judgment? But i dont want to spoil here

Let’s see where it goes. I can see using “cart racing” in lets say Shibuya, Odaiba, or Asakusa, but Chinatown in Yokohama would be impossible. Just doesn’t have the space for such things.
