Random Shenmue III Thoughts

Well I shall be ordering that the moment they go on sale! Good find. Can't wait for Monaco now!

only the Day One Edition comes with a DLC code to unlock Shenmue 4 as a free download.

Didnt EDGE only confirm that you could change Ryo's outfit in the context of training?

i think it would be cool if you were able to purchase completely different outfits.
not just gear for the training, it would be cool to purchase something like traditional chinese clothing
or jeans in different colors, other shoe types or rpg options like "hide ryos jacket".

i like to customize the main characters. not the face or body, just the clothes.

Certainly sounded like a training-only thing in the preview. I don't tend to mess around with character clothing in games -- I mainly want the ability to purchase clothing because I always wished you could in I & II. The more there is to buy, the more invested you'll become in the economy of the game, too.

Such a pointless thread, too. Nothing against the OP, but they answer their own question, then leave the gates open for smug haters to pour in.

Yeaaaah, Ghost Trick is a good dude (and on here sometimes), but unfortunately the thread has invited in... I dunno how else to describe them, but haters basically. There's maybe a time and a place to discuss flaws in the series or maybe flaws in how III has been handled with the public, but many of these are "YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO LIKE THE THING I DON'T LIKE" people.

It was kind of a pointless thread, like we just had a fairly big and active thread on the EDGE article. I wonder if many people search for older threads before posting stuff like that. Glad no one took the THQ bait (sixth response in the thread).

*Shenmue thread on ERA*

*blood pressure spikes*

just ignore them completely in terms of discussions.
... i mean, just look at the thread names they have.

all of their threads about controversial things are completely onesided
and you will get banned if you say something else.
they think they are something like the world media spokesmen with the one and only true opinion.
they are sending messages to important companies and people just to spread their own opinion
and get mad if they dont respond.

but if you check the comments on Twitter, Facebook or Youtube for the exact same topic,
you can easily see that they are living in their own bubble that has nothing to do
with how most people out there really see things.

in my opinion, that no one has to share, no one should give them any attention.

I dont think they're entirely wrong. I cant think of a single other game where we haven't seen any actual gameplay at all six months from release. (Shadowdrops of newly announced games notwithstanding) That is highly unusual, and I understand how that can impede anyone's ability to be hyped and increase scepticism on the quality of the game. The people saying the games were never good are quite annoying though.

I agree. Unless you're a die hard Shenmue fan, there's little to be excited about so far. Let's see how the trailer looks. Can't expect people who don't care about Shenmue to care about Shenmue 3 at this point.

I'm honestly surprised I survived one of the recent 'controversy' threads. I won't deny my biases made me take the controversial position, but I think if you can avoid responding to people with too much emotion you can usually skate by on the site. I think it's pretty shit they're going to let people post 'you support pedophilia' disclaimers in any Shenmue thread. That's pretty appalling, but whatever. Best to ignore it.

Some of the extra content for backers were a different skin for the jacket, so maybe there's other skins to buy ingame.

i mean if you would like to talk about things like "there will never be a Shenmue 4 because Shenmue sucks",
"all these new screenshots are fake", "how can anyone be hyped about this?",

or that you should boycott all Deep Silver games because of THQ Nordic,
or how it is a good thing that asian games are getting censored for the west
because all japanese gamers are pedophiles, then the ResetEra board is perfect.

i dont know why anyone would like to discuss anything with these people.

Different skin but same type of jacket probably. Like still the brown jacket, but instead of the tiger and US flag emblem, its Japan flag and a dragon maybe.

Why do people keep bringing up the THQ Nordic discussion on Resetera over here? Get over it, its their choice and Its been stated several times that this isnt the site for it. Also seems like quite the double standard that it can be alright to hate on peoples choices to hold companies accountable but its A-Okay to keep hate boners going. Some people are able to separate their moral principles from their enjoyment of a game they like and choose to boycott it. For example I loved Chick Fil A, didnt stop me from boycotting it due to my stance on LGBT issues. Havent bought anything there in like 4 years.
