Random Shenmue III Thoughts

So, I just watched a video by Switch on the phantmriverstone blog,
about Ryo being able to do VF Akira's victory pose.
Some comment entertained the idea of the fact that NPCs didn't react.

And, now, this is something that hasn't been brought up about SH3 :
Do you think it is possible, with the technology used,
that nearby NPC could react to some actions performed by Ryo ?
I'm not sure this is a good or necessary thing to have, but, why not, after all ?

If the tech is there and they feel it adds to the game/world then why not.

Hi. Could do with some advice here.

Having introduced one family member to the series through the 1 & 2 pack, I'm now in need of another copy of Shenmue 3. But, would it be better for me to purchase this copy at launch, or now?

From what I understand, even if the entire planet reserves dozens of copies of Shenmue 3 now through Kickstarter, enough for us to lay out a bridge from Earth to Mars, all these preorders will be for nothing for guaranteeing Shenmue 4 if the launch sales are poor. Do you think its better I wait?

Yeah I'd wait, I think at this point in the development cycle that if you're looking to support the future of the series financially then buying III (again) would be more effective than donating the same amount now.

The thing about Chapter 4 in Shenmue II is that when Ryo jumps into the river to save Shenhua, after that point you never see another person again. We were told that the mirrors were created centuries ago yet the plans are fresh on the desk in Shenhua's house. Her father made that cave for the mirror, but he is never seen and vanishes. Shenhua dresses like she's from centuries ago. The sound of the QTE's change. You have to wonder what that all means. I speculated that Shenhua is a ghost or if Yu Suzuki couldn't have done Shenmue III he could've pulled an M. Night Shyamalan and say that Ryo doesn't realize he died in the river. Those things really make me wonder about certain aspects in what I suggested here are involved in the sequel.

I just finished Shenmue 2 this evening - Shenhua does state the drAwings are ancient, so rather than being made by her father figure, im guessing it was referenced for his cave sculpture work.

I'm still baffled by the cave scene in general, not only by the powers we see but why Shenhua's 'father ' is working on this cave display. I'm hoping he will be a Character we meet early in Shenmue 3 but considering how he left that note, it sort of reminder me of Iawo's not left in his bedroom at the Hazuki residence.

I'm hoping we get a stronger picture of Shenhua and the relevances of her heritage and how she was able to activate the sword in the stone scene. I'm also wondering how come all that activation happened with the Phoenix Mirror and not the Dragon Mirror - my guessing it .net have something to do with summoning the Phoenix as a guardian - would that mean there is a similar setup elsewhere for the Dragon Mirror - In Lan Di's possession of course who was noted to be travelling to Guilin.

I'm pretty sure we'll see Shenhua's step-father in III. I think the goal of the game will be to rescue him from the Chi You Men like the goal of Shenmue II was to find Yuanda Zhu.

My interpretation of the scene has always been that the contraption was the ‘proof’ mentioned in the letter left (“Go with the one who holds the Phoenix and find the proof”). To activate the machine, Shenhua needs Ryo who ‘holds the Phoenix’ to present it and Ryo needs Shenhua to place the sword in the stone. It proves to both of them that they are the ones from the prophecy; which incidentally, Shenhua then recites as it all becomes clear and the game ends.

Sorry if ive missed it, but im wondering if anything more was posted about the original voice actors returning? Has Peter spoken to them recently, and if so is anything to be allowed to be said on here? I really want Paul Lucas back at least.

Hope fishing is for leisure AND a job option. "Help Mr. Wang catch a dozen fish, pays 50 yuan per fish". Or if you're fishing for fun, you suddenly catch capsule toy boxes. Or old shoes (worthless).

Judging by the way the fishing minigame has been described, I think it is inherently leisurely but players are free to sell the fish they manage to catch, as opposed to it being structured in the same way as the forklift or crate carrying jobs from the previous games. The way I imagine it, it's more in the vein of collecting capsule toys and selling them of your own volition.

Ive watched them before and i dont remember anything about him returning for shenmue 3. Checking top comments it seems i was right, people saying they hope he returns for the third. So either we are all missing something, or he didnt mention it.

Could you possibly simply quote me what he says regarding the third, or at least give me a timestamp? Thanks.

I know the only original voice actor confirmed was Corey. Eric Kelso hadn't been approached to return in May and I am not aware that particular situation has changed for example.

Yeah, im really aiming this question at Peter the owner of the site, as he was the one that posted about them not being contacted yet, and that he was in contact with them. I guess if he doesnt reply theres at least some hope their all under nda's or something.
So Peter, any chance you could shoot Paul an email?

I don’t know how to time stamp a video but skip to 11:30 if you wanna hear Paul Lucas talk about his potential involvement in Shenmue 3.

And for a special treat,skip to 29:48.

A big thank you to red for uploading this video.

IMO they’ve got to shed some light on this as this could be potentially game-breaking in Shenmue III. They cannot brush the massive carvings of the mirrors aside in Shenmue III, like it didn’t even happen.

There has got to be some significance to them, because if not, the carvings would have been a waste of time; a hole in the story. I noticed the stones in the centre of the mirrors in the carvings glow. I don’t know if that is widely known amongst fans but they do glow.

It’ll be very interesting to learn why the carvings were made, whether there is a supernatural element to them, whether they will be revisited by Ryo and Shenhua or whether they play no further part in the story.

Then we have the Sword of Seven Stars. I know Yu Suzuki said that they knew Shenmue II would be the last game so they ‘wanted to go out with a bang’, however they’ve to got to give some significance to the sword even if that wasn’t originally planned. If they don’t, that will be another hole in the story as would be the case with the carvings.

Yh I remember watching those bits before (especially the where is the mirror part haha), but dont those videos actually pre date the comments left by Peter? I thought Peters comments were from this year? I could be wrong though.
