It was always going to struggle to make the top 20. Are there figures down to the top 50 available?

Nothing official has been released as yet. Further back in this topic people have made guesses based on information that is out there eg VGChartz but that's not accurate.

When it first came out in France shenmue had the "top" sticker on it in the most popular video game store franchise (micromania). unfortunately after a few months it was being sold at a discount price and the second hand basket was full of copies of it, so I don't know how well it did overall.

Those in the second hand basket don't matter as they've already been sold as new so they count as sales.

Over in the UK they've had the odd sale on the games but nothing ott. It's still £20 in most places here.

160,000+ copies on PS4 as of somewhere around the end of last year.

Anything else is completely unknown.
Globally? I wasn't expecting a huge success but with how well it seemed to be doing on release I was expecting more

That's without Xbox sales and steam sales. I'd be shocked if it didn't do 250k sales overall. However we have no way of tracking steam sales so it's tough to tell.

Wouldn't necessarily assume so. Most casual gamers play games quick then sell them as soon as they've finished simply for the best trade in value. Plus, being a budget price tier surely plenty grabbed impulsively after hearing hype then were sell back, regardless.

Sega's annual report should be out at the end of the fiscal year (March 31). They could choose to disclose the sales numbers then, if it's something they want to highlight - or not.

I know it's apparently not super reliable for more recently released games anymore, but steamdb has it between 20k and 50k on Steam. Not great but definitely not bad either, especially since it hasn't gone on a much of a sale yet + is basically supplementary to the PS4 version.

Based on that and the rough ps4 totals and Xbox totals that we know of is probably done 200k-250k sales. Hopefully a small but tidy profit.

Not anything new, but I took a second look at the UK charts from last year.

Shenmue I & II actually charted twice the week of release, both PS4 and XBO versions, and still charted the following week on PS4 albeit at a much lower position. Yakuza Kiwami 2, which entered the charts at the same position as Shenmue (or lower, depending on how the charts have been compiled), was gone the following week.

Can't read into it too much, but it's encouraging to know Shenmue can outpace a series SEGA is happy with the sales of. In one market at least.

Hell we might even see a spike in sales soon again if S3 releases to favourable reviews+fan/backer satisfaction.
