I love how for years, people have been saying that Shenmue was ahead of its time. That Yu Suzuki was way ahead of his time....
Yet 20 years later, a couple of old games, that could "apparently" be easily be remade/remastered/re-released, present so many small issues that fans get so hellbent out of shape about. Understandably yes, but at the same time, from a grand scheme of things perspective...really?
No offence, but I genuinely believe that Adam Koralik was right in regards to the original source code, "being held together with rubber bands", and to go one further, I would say that even the best remake/remaster development studios would have had their work cut out with these games.
Despite all of the problems that we currently see, D3T have my utmost respect, simply for having the balls to take this project on in the first place, and for attempting to re-release the biggest and most ambitious game ever attempted by the legendary Yu Suzuki and his AM2 team.
Simple as that.
I really do not mean this post to sound confrontational or ignorant to the issues these games have, far from it. I am just taking some time to appreciate and respect both the work and achievements of Yu Suzuki, AM2, and D3T. That's all. Something i feel has been sincerely lost over the course of the past few days.
