Big Merry Cruise DLC releases on March 17th

Please explain to me in 100 words or less how Shenmue III will be any better if its on Steam. Will the game run any smoother? Will there be less game crashing bugs? Are you collecting Steam trophies?
More people will buy Shenmue 3, allowing for higher odds of a fourth game. I think that would be a big deal.

The story is done for now. I loved Shenmue III, because it subverted expectations. If Shenmue III just ticked the usual boxes and just gave me a story I already written in my head, it would be "flat and one dimensional". Look at it this way, Niao Sun still needs to be defeated in Shenmue IV. That opens up Shenmue V for you to have to defeat the remaining Chi Yo Men leaders and Lan Di himself. Fire up the next Kickstarter, I will put $700 on it this time so I can get my quote in the guestbook.

Whether or not you learned anything about the Shrine maiden Shiling depends on whether you did her side quest , or talked to her from day to day. That's what happens when you are an orphan, you make friends quickly because you have no family. Ryo befriends most decent people he meets.

I gotta love the hot takes here, people dismissing the DLC before it is even released. Would it hurt to be more open minded? The minigame challenges in Big Merry Cruise might actually be fun.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'm not really excited for more turtle racing and Lucky Hit. I think the game already has an over-abundance of those games in both towns without this DLC. I hope there are some new games. All I can see in the screenshot is Turtle Racing and Frog Racing... I was disappointed you couldn't play the slot machines you could find in game or the air rifle game that was in Bailu. I was doubly disappointed you couldn't even play darts, the game Kickstarter backers overwhelmingly voted for... What exactly was the point of that survey?

I enjoyed both Battle Rally and the Story Quest Pack, each had something new, it will probably be the same here.
It wouldn't be just normal gambling in a new location.

Not really. It would just become more shovelware for steam to give away 50% off.

This.
I don't see steam people paying "more than $15 for a 1 year old game".
Heck, they barely pay more than $15 even for games released few weeks ago...

Unless Shenmue 3 become a random trend like "Undertale" or some other indie games, don't expect any revevant numbers from steam (or any other platform like xbox or switch).

While we're on the subject of outfits, how do you get the Kenpogi outfit on PC?

So they should just not put it on Steam? Not sure what your point is. If it sells for 50% off then at least more people might play it, building a larger audience for a fourth game. I hope it ends up on Xbox One as well. No doubt a game with a 67 Metacritic average isn’t going to set the world on fire, but it still helps to expand the audience.

Not to backseat mod but, to be fair, much of this thread discussion has been a series of red herrings: Steam has nothing to do with DLC (though I know we're all wondering "what's next?"), and complaints about the game or it being now outdated have nothing to do with either Steam or the DLC.

Back to the DLC point, I'm curious as to two things: where will that boat be, and may there be higher stakes gambling as to entice one to engage the prize houses?
I'm not fond of the S3 economy (lest we go to even another red herring, I still ask the "rEaLiSm" folks: where is Ryo storing those full sized musical instruments? ), but I'm more willing to engage with it if it's connected to the story organically. The clothing aspect is cool enough, and there seem to be plot elements (if trophy awards matter), so I'll take it.

I'd rather XBOX sooner than Steam.

Excited to check out the casino boat. Pleasant surprice hearing about the missions to complete. Wonder if there's also one or more moves alongside the costume, like in Battle Rally

This. Xbox has more gamers than PC. Steam dudes mainly play League of Legends or backgammon. They aren't buying Shenmue. Just bring it to Xbone and Switch where the real money is . Npd can't track Steam sales anyway.

The PC market is the largest market going in the world of gaming. Its can be segmented and that segment may have less players than XB1 but who knows.

Seems this is the last DLC. Peter mentioned it somewhere

It makes sense. Also if it is activated from an alrady ongoing save file in Niaowu this could be another Story DLC situation where it could have been cut from the main game, or see as a DLC something that can give more volume to Niaowu

Maybe. I hope so but I suspect this is just a bunch of mini-games with minimal story. Hopefully I'm very wrong!
