General RGG Discussion

Well several of those games are smaller (in terms of amount of text) and are aimed at a more worldwide audience. Yakuza is still very much a Asia focused series unfortunately. Sega totally can get it localised in multiple languages at once - China, Korea and Japan get the games at the same time. So yeah, hopefully one day it'll get to the point where they are doing worldwide launches for the series. Still, definitely nice to get English confirmation day 1 at least, that's a huge step up!

Some new stuff i guess.

Much like previous games, you can develop and customize protagonist Ichiban Kasuga in different ways.
This time around, you have Life Experience which is divided into six parameters
– Enthusiasm, Intelligence, Cheerfulness, Kindness, Mentality and Stylishness.

According to Sega in a recent press release here’s what each parameter represents:

Enthusiasm – The source of “willingness” and “romance.”
Develops through enthusiastic conduct and doing things with utmost effort.

Mentality – The source of “mental strength” and “concentration.”
Develops through situations that test your courage and emotional strength.

Cheerfulness – The source of “sociability” and “brightness.” Develops through actions that lighten the mood.

Kindness – The source of “broad-mindedness” and “empathy.”
Develops through kind interaction with people, animals, and nature.

Intelligence – The source of “education” and “memory.” Develops through logical suggestion and studying.

Stylishness – The source of “charm” and “character.” Develops through clever exchange and dignified behavior.

You cant accept every job, you cant get all the information from people
and you cant flirt if you dont have the right life experience skills.
You can also upgrade your stats with exams at the Ocean Qualification School. Also all of the side activities
will get you more life experience skills and points.

Sound very Persona. I'm digging it though as I absolutely LOVE Persona.

Eh, I'd rather they stick to the more rockish soundtrack of the series. But at the same time, each character in Yakuza 4/5 had their own style to their music so hopefully Ichiban gets his as well (and if that just so happened to be something akin to heavy metal, I'd be very happy).

that hostess customization song from 0 and Kiwami 2.

I wanna be your girl
I wanna be your girl

Somebody said I'm good girl
With drinkin' up all wines
Every men seems so happy
To see me good

Do I look nicely enough?
I got dressed up in for you
Look at me, this is my love
All for you

Stay all night long,
Sit tight in sofa
Drink wines and talk
Every night

Look at me,
don't ever see her
Don't touch her,
Today time for you and me

What you like, how you like
What do you like best?
What you like, how you like
I can't think anymore

What you like, how you like
What do you like best?
What you like, how you like
I just want your love

Uh, yeah
Even though you look at her
(What you like, How you like, As you like, I'll do)
I hope this time will last forever
(May last forever…)

Will I be your girl, tonight?
Will I ever be your lady?
I don't need anyone's love
But your one love that makes me up
In lady
I want to be your girl

:ROFLMAO:

Damn song, thankfully I'm listening to lots of SNK music at the moment so I won't have it stuck in my head for long. Could be worse, could be 100%ing Yakuza 5 again and have Konnan stuck in my head all day (actually... that isn't all that bad at all).

It got to a point where I'd memorised many of Haruka's dance moves as well, I can still see them in my head as I type this!

Best use of the song no doubt is a completely optional hidden performance, once you unlock the Noa Amon "fight" you get to do a dance, then a performance of Konnan against her, its by far the toughest of the performances in the game (to be fair, its the only one not super easy) which was very nice. Wish they'd have given you a few more like this.

Yes, the Noa Amon was relatively difficult, but I beat her haha.

Anyway, the original Japanese tracks have a lot of great songs that unfortunately can’t make it to the international releases

Thankfully it looks like Sega are thinking smarter with music going forward, still a pity that 5 and 6 especially were hit the ways they were, playing them without the Japanese songs throughout the game is a not quite so amazing experience (still damn good though).

At this point, I'd play Yakuza games just for the karaoke. This one song from 6 still sticks out in my head from time to time, with the lyrics being basically Kiryu baring his feelings...

That song is great, until you read the lyrics. Oh well, at least its just the one song... scrolls down list and plays "Hands"... ;( dammit Sega. That games Karaoke songs were fantastic, perfect cap off for the Kiryu saga.

Anyway, only 1 week left for Yakuza 4's release on PS4. I assume Butterfly City will be replaced still with For Faith (YAY!) and I wonder if they've touched up the script much. Will be interesting to see.

Yeah, 3 and 4's music changes were alright with me... But both original tunes are not bad (I love Zeebra and Ryo the Skywalker, so I don't mind BC).

3's soundtrack also changed a song in chapter 11 (you know, THAT scene). Not a huge deal really but the original just fit it much better. I really must check 5 out in English again to see some of those scenes again as replaying it in Japanese this year reminded me how many big scenes had Japanese songs in them, and it fit the scenes perfectly. Oh, and Daigo's fight of course, I loved that song.

Laughing at the way you worded it, not the scene itself lol.

And of course; it is rare for the NA version to NOT be as good as the JP version, music-wise.

I’m glad I have the Japanese version of 6 just for Sobo by Tatsuro Yamashita alone
Same here :) Though as more and more of the games get released on the PC its cool to have the original music modded back in as well. PC 6 should be awesome when its finally released (I also kinda wonder if its possible to get Kiwami 2's improved combat retro ported into 6 or if that's not possible)

So in addition to Yakuza 4 releasing next week we also have a new stream for RGG7 that is being promoted:

Its expected for the series to get shown off on Tuesday streams but this one seems to be promoted more than usual. Wonder if there is any sort of reveal primed for it? Either way, seeing more of the game is always something I like, so I'll be tuning in.

I missed the stream for RGG Online yesterday and the Twitter page for RGGO didn't really give me any idea of what was shown, aside from it showing something relating to Ryuuji's new flashback story.
