General RGG Discussion

Spent a good 45 minutes on the business minigame and I think I have the hang of it now (with the help of handwriting on Google Translate).

Company was in a hole for a while, but started winning the shareholder meetings and now I've built up a hefty bit of capital and am in the top 100. Eri has left so I'm guessing that's it for Chapter 5, business-wise; will resume when I finally jump to chapter 6.

Last thing to do is the Byte mission where there is a woman waiting at the washroom, under the overpass that splits the city into upper and lower portions; what do I have to do to help her? lol

This game is much fun, even grinding is fun! :D

I'm way behind everyone else :p I beat Kiwami recently and loved every second of it but ever since I've started Kiwami 2, honestly I've found it a bit of a slog and I'm not sure why... Funnily enough I didn't enjoy how Judgement played either so I am wondering if something with the Dragon Engine just isn't clicking. Planning to move onto the Remastered Collection after & then 6 - I've never even played 4-6. I'm just doing a story run, so not really focusing on Sub Stories at all, i'll see if keeping up the pace of the story brings me more enjoyment.

2 is quite beloved for the most part, but I have torn the (horribly-written) plot to death and that may be what you're going through now (though you may also be having issues with gameplay lol).

It starts out with a bunch of random things that can make the plot spin off in many directions (cinematography and cutscene direction is superb in 2, I must say), then becomes dull and nothing happens for the entire midgame (basically), then picks up a bit, then REALLY gets going in the penultimate chapter, then is followed by a massive and cringey disappointment, where established character behaviours and attitudes get completely thrown to the wind and there are literally... 7 twists in 3 minutes of plot.

And all are ridiculous.

And all don't make sense.

It is awful writing and the plot is lost/changed 90 times with a ridiculous conclusion... But whether you like it or not is up to you ;)

It's a ride, I'll give you that, so strap yourself in! :D

Just finished the main story in Judgment and holy hell is it a great game. I have admittedly never played any Yakuza games but this has made me immediately go out (or go onto PSN rather), and buy Yakuza 0. If it stacks up against Judgment (I know it’s an older game etc), I will play my way through the series.

I can definitely see where people draw comparisons to Shenmue but they do seem to be wholly different animals with certain similarities.

IMO, it is top 3 of the older (pre-Dragon Engine) games, but many feel like it's the best, so you won't be disappointed at all.

FTR, I have it as 3rd best in the series and Judge Eyes as 4th, soo...

I meant to ask actually, after 0, what order would you recommend I play the rest in? 0-6? There’s also Kiwami.

The order is up to you personally due to the story digests in each game. The only recommendation I would give you is to simply play Kiwami I and II since they are basically improved versions of the first two Ryu Ga Gotoku games. Also with the remastered versions of the third, fourth, and fifth games on PlayStation 4 just play those.

Go through the entire series in sequential order. That's my recommendation. There is an overarching storyline for Kiryu so I would suggest going through the whole thing in order. But that's my suggestion.

Thanks fellas. Quite looking forward to getting into these.

i really hope there’s a Judgment 2 on the cards too. Nothing concrete so far but apparently the first sold pretty well in the west, so that can only be good.

Absolutely!

Dan has beaten 7 so he has a clear idea of how the series had progressed and I'm still 1/3 of the way through; with the NFL Combine on for the next few days, I'm afraid I won't be able to play until Sunday, as it'll take up too much of my time :$

If you want to play EVERY title on ALL platforms (excluding multiple versions), my own personal, definitive order is:

0-1 (either Kiwami or not)-2 (either Kiwami or not)-Kurohyo-3-4-Kurohyo 2-Dead Souls-5-Ishin!-6-Judge Eyes-7

Kenzan! can be played at any point, but since it draws very little from past games and the fanservice is minute (compared to Ishin!, anyways), I didn't include it there.

That has the best progression/integration of story, engines and systems and overall narrative arc, IMO.

Agreed, I have yet to do this myself, but playing sequentially now that every remake or remaster has been released in the west is probably the best bet as long as you don't mind the varying ways the gameplay ages in and out. However for me, my order was 0, Kiwami 1, 6 then Kiwami 2 and I was completely fine and enjoyed the stories as well as the rest of the fanbase.

That whole mini game is kind of like a cross between the Cabaret Club and Real Estate mini game from Yakuza 0. Much like the Cabaret Club in 0, your employees have certain stats. Match those stats up with the proper property development for best results. You can level up your employees (they max out at level 30...highly recommended to just buy their levels)...don't overwork them otherwise they get pissed and will quit (you can keep them happy by giving them holiday time or treating them to fancy meals).

You can also level up your properties which brings in more money. As your reputation and revenue grows, you'll soon be able to buy and develop more expensive properties and continue raking in cash and reputation for the business.

As for the investor meetings, the higher level staff are best to be equipped for those...do as many side stories as you can and you''ll earn higher rank employees. Also as your stats go up you can recruit higher level staff. It's pretty easy, it's just winning them over by attacking their complaints with counter arguments.

It's the best way to make money in the game though..by the time I had gotten my business ranked to Number 1 and was grinding for the 100 billion trophy, I was making shit tons of money through the investor meetings.

It's not too bad once you have it figured out, but yeah, it's something of a cross between the Real Estate and Cabaret mini games from Y0.

I find it to be like that as well; lots of fun, once you get the hang of things!

Yes, I was leveling up my properties, but barely any income was coming in; I think I need to get better employees, then better allocate them to specific properties (wasn't able to purchase more than one in addition to the candy store you start with, at first), which I assume will happen with the next chapter(s) and, like you said, more substories completed.

No one has quit on my yet, but I have gotten rid of people so far, only for them to come back (pissed, but they come back and Ievel them up to appease them lol). I hate that I'm only tied to 10 employees thus far; I assume that as time goes on, I will also be able to hire more employees?

The shareholder meetings, even if I'm not being as efficient as I could be, I've figured out how to win them now, so I'll do my best to reap the benefits :)

As the NFL Combine is now done, I can get back to the game tonight, hopefully finish that BYTE.com request and move on to the next chapter.

Ugh, I'm a moron; all the BYTE requests in front of a washroom are for people who need toilet paper <_< Discovered the Casino doing the one in Chinatown, so I've opened that up too and I'm getting all of the jobs' levels to at least 7, before I head to the next chapter; want to make sure that in case I need to switch for whatever reason, I won't have terrible stats and no attacks.

My Sujimon as well, is at 110 or so; really like the whole Pokedex vibe that you get from it (clearly inspired by it) and it is a ton of fun to find new enemies! :D

I just can't believe how much content/there is to do in chapter 5; just crazy.

I'm STILL in chapter 5 lol, Ichiban is at level 25 (or 26, can't remember now) and in completing the rest of the quizzes (only attempted the last one once and got 3/5 :(), I unlocked another substory lol; there is just too much going on and it is BEYOND awesome.

Everyone's jobs are now at level 7 or higher, save for 1 of Ichiban's (which I'm doing tonight) and one of Saeko's (which is at 5). Have completed the affinity levels with both Adachi and Saeko and once the jobs for everyone are all at level 7, I'll move onto chapter 6.

Ryu ga Gotoku 7 is an amazing game.

Question for @danielmann861; is it worth it to level the default jobs (Hero for Ichiban, Cop for Adachi, etc.) to max or should I max out other jobs for people?

Just because I'm so used to the attacks and all that of the default jobs, they all function well in battle.
