Those are some cool moves!
The're is a guy on Twitter who does amazing combos in Shenmue like you would't believe! I can't really recal his name tho.
You mean Kenjito Master? Or the Japanese Shenmue Fan “Aru” on Twitter? Those are the only two I can think of.
Some peeps are speculating that Bloodstain could be the Shenmue slayer if Iga announces the official summer window to land around august. While, imo I think BS is carrying srs controversy up to its launch party. Just take a look at the recent PAX hand on reactions/damage control the publisher is doing. Also...do you guys think Iga is more famous than Yu suzuki when it comes to attracting retro/console game hype+popularity?
When it comes to marketing and transparency Iga and Bloodstained have done a much better job then Shenmue 3. While Yu has been honest with us, it’s usually through an obscure interview while Iga has done more publicly. He’s provided ample footage of gameplay and access to demo’s. The best Yu has done till recently is tell us game details in obscure magazines.
To say Bloodstained is a “Shenmue Killer” is a stretch seeing as how Shenmue 3 is a different game from Bloodstained with different aims. Bloodstained is a 2.5 metroidvania (or Igavania in this case) while Shenmue 3 is an open world game with much more intricate detail. To how that translates to the general audience I honestly don’t know since no one can predict the future. I believe that there’s room for both genres though given the popularity of titles like Hollow Knight and the Ryu ga Gotoku series.
I think whether Iga or Suzuki is better at attracting retro game hype is irrelevant. What matters most is what the men produce and how it resonates with the audience. People at E3 2015 weren’t reacting to Yu Suzuki returning to game design, they were reacting to the return of a game series they thought was dead.
