I've never played Total War, but I feel confident in saying "apples and oranges" man. :p
If we where just talking about normal historical Total War then I'd agree with you. Times have changed though and Sega is willing to innovate with what a Total War game should be about. Things like Total War: Warhammer and to a lesser extent Total War: Three Kingdoms (depending on the game mode) just do fantasy strategy better the Shining Force ever could. That's probably why later Shining games dropped the strategy element and became pure JRPGs.

More like, hire a porn artist and slap waifu-bait all over the IP. :crying:
I'm totally cool with that, I just wish they did that for a proper Shining Force 4 instead of another ARPG. Shining Resonance Refrain isn't bad at all, but we want another turn-based strategy installment. They had two on PSP, but they were JP only and weren't actually called Shining Force.

Oh I'm fine with the change of art direction tbh, Just, I want a Shining force that's more well directed/designed with some ambitious ideas like the older spirit it once had...I do appreciate the eye candy but not at the expense of what made the core game beloved.

I’m also cool with it. I really enjoyed the design of Resonance outside of the main character. With a bigger budget for expanding the story/setting (I wanted more towns so badly since I thought they did a great job with the one in it), and heading back to SRPG gameplay, they could have something really special. Especially now that Shin Sakura Taisen is an action RPG. In the event Shin Sakura Taisen doesn’t work out, they could even utilize the same engines and have one be the old school swords and sorcery SRPG and the other be the steampunk mech SRPG. With a few tweaks to make them distinct in gameplay, they could effectively double their output and expand/merge the audiences so fans end up getting both series.

No problem.

I just can't see one 10 thousandth of the population not buying the game though; in every country thus far, I would have to think it has sold that much (from what we can gather, anyways; highly doubt they HAVEN'T sold 32,000 in the states, 6,600 in the UK and 17,000 in Japan is already above that threshold).

If there was 0 advertising or anything, sure, but they had the week-long events and campaign planned, in addition to the story being set there...

Again, it boils down to sheer population size.

For example, I wonder if 3 is at all popular in India? Same thing applies there.
What kind of fantasy world do you live in? Clearly you've never visited planet earth. In these countries people are trying just to survive.

It was said that they update every Tuesday, thus presumably...
I'd assume MechWarrior 5 is the next big EGS exclusive, and it's behind Shenmue. (not out yet, I believe)

Still haven't seen a single copy of the game. Selling a lot of Pokemon, and the usual CoD, FIFA, and Mario titles.

On the flip side though, as the game was Kickstarted, the figures being looked at in terms of funding for the fourth entry will likely be unique players. If they (be it DS, SEGA, or who the fuck ever) know there's a decent enough install base, the low sales will probably have less importance comparatively.

I could be wrong though.

Cedric is still telling people on Twitter that the chances of 4 are 50/50. That said, I’m not sure he has the authority to say anything different.

I saw that post in French, since I am not a native speaker it looks like he said "we are at 50 percent always" looked like in response to someone asking chances of IV if 25 percent 50 or 75.
