The menu 'buttons', you had to alter the textures via photoshop?

I'm doing the pt-br translation. It's so great seeing this community giving the attention this masterpiece deserves.

I did it with pain net https://www.getpaint.net it's a free app, you can edit dds files with it. Every Menu Button is a dds file. Fonts I used, and I think it's the same as the HD menu,is Book Antiqua, and you need outline and dropshadow. Or you can download nvidia dds plugin for photoshop, i didn't try it yet.

Did you tried this UTF-8 code for ç = "ç"? It's included in french, so I think you can use it for PT-BR

Added checkbox under the CSV2SUB button, if it's checked - special characters, that missing in the charsets at the moment (listed in this topic + Cyrillic alphabet), will be replaced by English letters. It may be useful, if you are making translation with special characters, but still wish to see how text appear in the game. When we will be able to edit fonts, only thing you will need to do is save your CSV without this option enabled.

I think it's broking something. Don't know if its because the old app starts all the lines without ", and the new with it.

I tried changing special characters and without changing, with the same result.

that's unexpected. can you send me an archive of files you working with? .xml and .sub, at least I can try to understand what happened.
 
I'm working with a .unknown file extracted with derplayer tools and converted to csv with your app, nothing more. I send it via MP.
 
font for each language stored in the single layout file (started with 78 56 34 12 bytes) and 19 files after it (charsets?). For 1.01 these files starting from 687 (in common_5b7bc90e). btw, several font types used in the game - system (loading message), notepad, common text, and common text shade. maybe more, but I didn't noticed it.
I didn't figured out how it can be edited, just made some experiments that ended as "noisy pixels" instead of letters.
 
anyone knows what the fontdef files are? by googling, I found a font definition file format related to OGRE but..
 
Modifying texts I found this. Don't know if it comes on original Shenmue, but it seems optiones for Shenmue Passport. They were thinking about including it on the HD game?1536080387873.png1536080291794.png
 
Good post guys! We've almost finished the translation of Shenmue 1 in Italian - Hopefully, we should be able to release it soon, we would like to do some heavy testing and revision before putting everything live!

You're doing a very good translation. We are many spaniards who are waiting for a Spanish translation. When do you think you could finish it? Thank you
 
Thanks to the help of a guy called Kaplas on another community. I was able to edit the fontdef archives. You must add this header with HxD to the *.fontdef archive and save it as dds, then you can edit it with a dds editor (as I said before, I use paint . net).

After editing the dds fonts. You must delete the header with HxD again and save it as .fontdef

I looked for the fonts and at this moment I found those ones before the game updated and changed (again) all the files structures.

730 - Description of options and moves.
731 - Description place where you saved on Load Screen / Pause Help
732 - Option menu / Game data at Load Screens / description of game date at load screen (1986) / Story Objects + Collection + Moves...)
733 - Small fonts when you configure keys
734 - Numbers of file at Load Screen + Shop signs + main conversation (Only Outline)
736 - Description of options and moves. (Outline)
737 - Load Screen place where you saved.
738 - Options / Game Data / description of game date at load screen (1986) / Story Objects + Collection + Moves... (outline)
740 - Load Screen place where you saved. (Big, don't remember what it was)
746- Notebook

After update:

Names of places at load Screen: Yamanose, Dobuita, Sakuragaoka, Wharehouse No.8, Ryo's Room... it's 723

Didn't look more fonts because I had to look for them again... Notebook is now at 729, so I think they deleted 18 archives before those

I edited notebook fonts and places. The other fonts are in archives with japanese fonts, but it's hard to edit because of the size of other characters and you must edit the outline archive too.

I hope this help. But if there is an easier way.....

thank you for this tool, this is impressed just what Shenmue community needed.
 
Please tell me the repacking tool for TAC / TAD file
Create project in ShenmueHDTools open ShenmueHDSubsRebuild
I changed it with CSV and returned it to SUB, but I can repack TAC / TAD file and it will not change. What should I do?
