A Gamer's Journey (Shenmue Documentary) goes to Kickstarter

Set the link up and ready - Seems they'll be doing a Live Q&A too so hopefully anyone unsure will be able to get the answers they seek around the project.
 
Hope those of you watching in the UK, EU and beyond have tomorrow off! Could be a long night.

As I type this - it is 12:15am in the UK. I missed the first half hour or so, but what I have seen has been fantastic and have no doubt that these guys are doing a great job. They are all very passionate and really can't wait for the final product.

Also, if any of the staff frequent the forum; i'm sorry I was finishing off American Ninja missing the start (those who watched the stream will get it) ;)

I can sleep tonight knowing that this project is in safe hands.
 
The whole rough cut was excellent. They've done a great job so far and I'm sure more will follow.

What I can say is that there's a bunch of very knowledgeable and passionate guys working on this project. It is in very safe hands.

I second this. I watched it in its entirety and you all can be assured the documentary is shaping up well and the team is professional and passionate.

Don't expect a revolution or something earth-shattering, but it made a really good impression on me!

Anyone able to confirm it's only up for 24 hours? I have to work tomorrow too and don't have the time to sit for 2.5 hours until tomorrow evening, by which time will be over 24 hours.

It's 24 hours from when it finished. So that was 1.30am UK time this morning, I'm not sure where you are exactly but I hope that helps.

Unless a mod says something on the contrary, I thing we are not allowed to do that to honor the request of the authors (that is in the forum announcement at the top of the page).

Not all cards were shown, anyway.

While they weren't all shown getting a closer look certainly does reveal a lot more about them.
I saw new detail in chapter card no.7 which I am positive reveals all 4 Chi You Men.
 
This is a difficult one given the chapter cards are available through public means (GDC 2014) so in theory someone could just zoom into one of those images as they're fairly clear.

Before anyone does anything let me talk to Adam and see what the stance their is on it. If it's a case of specifically their footage cannot be used but we can use what's already around then we can open up the conversation around the cards and there is a topic on the cards anyway: https://www.shenmuedojo.com/forum/index.php?threads/shenmue-story-chapter-cards.3105/

I’ve watched the rough cut now, and I can say without a doubt that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Added to that is the fact that the three of the guys that were doing the livestream seemed really cool, I’m sure that we will end up with a great product.

I have a couple of minor quibbles with the documentary as it stands, which I won’t go into here. But, even if this was the only version I ever saw then I would consider my Kickstarter money well spent. Hopefully this will have quieted the people on Kickstarter that are trying to demand a refund. But I doubt it.

Honestly these guys seem great. Every other project they mentioned they’d done, or wanted to do, I was thinking ‘Love that, love that’. It’s as if these guys have a direct route to all my loves. TMNT, Conan, He-Man, Sonic, and now Shenmue.

When the final product comes out, I think any Shenmue fan worth their salt should watch it.
 
Watch the content cut last night, I liked it and I can not wait to see the final cut with proper postpro and sound edit and that kind of stuff.
