General RGG Discussion

Ishin won't be in the Dragon Engine. It runs so well on the existing engine it seems like a waste of resources to remake the game already. Kenzan? It played really well as well, a res an FPS boost is all I want but we'll see. With the story themes in that game, I wonder if it'll ever be brought over though. And even though so many people hate it, I want Dead Souls remastered, So much of that could be fixed with a good frame rate and tweaked controls. Granted, it'd still have issues, but it'd be much better.

Nice that the survey acknowledges their existence though. Before its always been that Atlus/Sega dismiss them completely. So that's progress I guess.

Anyway, bit more of Yakuza 3 done today. Pretty much all the side stories are done, cleared the requirements for Shogi (which I still can barely play, just enough to do the first challenge mission) and got all the Okinawa coin locker keys done. May as well main line the last couple of story chapters and then focus on the rest of the side stuff in premium adventure mode.

i think there was a survey at the release of Yakuza 6 too but i dont remember if they asked for other remasters.
(they asked about the english version of Fist of the North Star - Lost Paradise)
only thing i can remember, is that the two localization producers from Sega were talking about Kenzan and Ishin
in the live streams for Yakuza a couple of times and they couldnt confirm or deny anything,
they just said that those games were not made for easy translations
and that it would be a pain in the ass to translate the overlay and the way the people are speaking to each other.
that was maybe 5 or 6 months ago, so if they still have not decided if they should do it or not ...
this could take a while.

Kenzan and Ishin in the new Dragon Engine with English text would be super awesome.
I would even pay full price for them. But if they dont see any point in making remakes for Yakuza 3-5
(because PS3 graphics are "good enough") i doubt that they will remake those games.
Of course i would buy 1080p 60 fps remasters too.

I'm playing Kiwami 2 since last Saturday and the technical side is way better than in Yakuza 6.

It looked and played exactly the same way, for me; there is no difference from an aesthetic standpoint or a gameplay standpoint, aside from adding stuff.

And yeah, I'm not buying any of the remakes, plus I indeed noted in the survey, that I wasn't interested.

Yakuza 6 has some performance problems on PS4, even on the Pro. it has tiny microstutters
and there is tearing on the normal PS4 when it drops below 30 fps.
(framerate is constantly fluctuating between 22 and 30 fps - in indoor fights it stays at 25 fps most of the time
you can check that in the DigitalFoundry tech video)

Kiwami 2 has no tearing, a better framerate and it looks cleaner.
you can tell that the developers were overchallenged with Yakuza 6
because they had no experience with the new engine.

I discussed this a year ago with many people; I had *0* screen tearing and *0* framerate issues, outside of the slowdown during the interlude, "sequence," when Kiryu goes to bat and mine is a stock, launch day PS4.

So no, these issues were not in every copy.

Yes, this normally is a precursor for them announcing new stuff, pretty sure they asked in the surveys about Yakuza 3-5 last time and if we'd buy those on PS4 and as you said regarding Fist of the North Star and if we'd buy that, so this normally is a pre-announcement thing where they check that the interest is there.

@RyoHazuki84 Actually, it doesn't specify what games particularly, maybe they meant the PSP games? Or Kenzan and Ishin? The question is literally just "hey, would you buy the Yakuza games that are still in Japanese?" which includes all of those.

I hope you all are filling in the survey saying you would buy them! Got to show the support.

okay, so you have a magical special PS4 from another galaxy. the tech analysis videos only apply to normal PS4 consoles
from planet earth and in those videos you can clearly see that there is screen tearing everywhere on base PS4
and there are accurate framerate graphs where you can see that its nowhere near stable 30 fps.

*sigh*

Whatever. Again, its not every copy.

Yikes, man. Modern bugs, as evidence by Shenmue HD, don't seem to be univesal or uniform. Definitely be inclined to believe his launch PS4 might run the game fine over yours or another person's PS4slim. Also could simply be psychological as some people simply notice the tiniest of jitter and overrreact. From my own experience of irrational loyalty to Sony Bravia/Trinitron/WEGA over Samsung, I can also understand this.

Example: Always felt Samsung had worse input lag. Could've SWORN in slow-moving Shenmue, just doing a reverse turn around left trails from Ryo's hair and jacket akin to dodging in a fight, albeit much less. Then again, probably all in my head beuase my best friend was standing right next to me saying he saw nothing, haha.

That's exactly it.

Even when I reviewed the game last year on Gamefaqs (was the only review for the game for months and it got a ton of views), I distinctly wrote that many people were stating to have screen tearing, dropped frames and lag, whether stock or PS4 Pro.

So its not that I'm arguing against, not believing or calling people liars; mine just legitimately runs fine.

Could it also help that it was the first and only game that I had on my PS4, thus an uncluttered HD and everything else, could run it no problem? I'm not sure.

I just got Kiwami 2 and I’m really feeling that this is gonna be my second favorite game of all time. I haven’t even met Ryuji Goda yet. The Dragon Engine is beautiful, and I kind of like how not every conversation has VO, unlike 6. It just feels...right for some reason.

Shame about the lack of the original CKB tracks. Not a deal-breaker by any means, but a damn shane.

Yakuza 2 is my all time favorite after the original and 4. Need to replay all of them and definitely give 3 and 5 a better chance; not as if I hate them, by no means, reative to my love of Yakuza in entirety, they underwhelmed me for whatever reason/ third game especially never caught onto as much as other people did. Probably as simple as being overshadowed by their predecessors too much.

Playing Yakuza 0 right now... and gotta say that this was one of the most difficult battles I ever had in a videogame as I'm practically tone-deaf and have no sense of rhythm...

nope, a PS4 is not some random mysterious thing where you can have super bad or good luck.
if a game has adaptive vsync ingame enabled, its there for everyone.
and if the framerate drops below 30 fps, which happens all the time on base PS4 - everyone will get screen tearing.

just because you dont notice it, doesnt mean that its not there.

screen tearing:

framerate:

i can link way more reviews with those examples if you like.
so please lets stop this pointless discussion.

...You literally began and continued the discussion again haha. We only replied with more level headed optimistism than pessimistic.

i just answered to point out that Yakuza 6 has performance problems 100%.
there are tons of proofs everywhere - in review videos, in amateur uploads, in text reviews,
in threads on gamefaq ... this has nothing to do with random glitches or bugs,
its a ingame performance setting by the devs. and thats the same setting for every base PS4 user.

so whats more believable - a single person on a Shenmue board who says that there are no such problems
without any evidence or proof -

or myself, tons of professional tech analysis videos, reviews, user uploads and whole threads just about the performance?
whats more believable?

again, just because you dont notice tearing or frame pacing issues or whatever,
doesnt mean that its not there. please dont join specific performance discussions
if you dont know what you are talking about. its nothing more than a waste of time for everyone.

Nicely done. It was a tough battle for me to do as well but beating Okita felt super satisfying (especially if you've played Yakuza 5 ;) )

I'm at the end of 3 basically now. I'm going to mainline the rest of the chapters doing the few side stories I have left, then hit up Premium Adventure mode for the rest.

Honestly, the more optimistic person who isn't a crybaby is more believable hahahaha

also anyone else besides the one having the gaul to condescend me by saying i don't know what i'm talking about. Good day.

Bra-vo!

Ugh...

I've beaten the game twice and both times, I had to beat him on the harder difficulties, as you can't rack up a good enough score to beat him and he NEVER screws up...

First time was on hard, most recently was on medium.

I believe the first time took me 42 tries, the second time, 30 something. Ogita is just insane.
