Random Gaming Thoughts

If you wait until Prime Day or Black Friday or whatever sale you can get some amazing prices on SD cards. I got a 400gb one cheap and it's perfect. I definitely recommend going with 400gb. I thought I'd never fill it and, yup, I filled it within a few months :ROFLMAO:
I remember using my dad's debit card to buy a 2gb SD card for my PSP for £70! We've come a long way since then.

Gravity Rush...I have not finished it but maybe got around half way through before other things took my interest. I’d say there was nothing awful about it, just a bit weird to get used to with how the system works, and you can kind of tell it was a handheld port in some ways like assets and design decisions.

In this day and age of more complex narratives, mechanics, and realistic character design, a part of me wonders if a fundamental part of video games has been lost. That is of course the ability to roleplay through a fantasy of your choosing. Gamers today tend to view characters more from an external third-person perspective rather than actually being that character.

Regardless of whether the avatar has a personality or not, it's the player who is guiding their actions. As I stated earlier, you are roleplaying as that character while following the rules laid out by the Dungeon Master (the game's rules, AI, and mechanics). If that interaction is lost, then what is to really separate video games from movies or literature?

I guess that's why I tend to prefer silent protagonists (like Link) over more boisterous ones.

I would say agree except for stuff like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and now Outer Worlds...though Fallout 4 having the main character actually having voice acting isn’t a great sign.

I can kind of understand the sort of halfway thing they’ve done with Link if they are going to have voice acting(though I’d rather they didn’t considering the poor quality in BotW), since they can’t really refer to him by name if we get to choose it. There’s still enough customization there now with different clothes and weapons, etc. that he still feels a bit unique.

I really wish I could play Killer 7, but man, I keep dying so much, not really enjoying the gameplay, just the atmosphere and overall weirdness.

Killer 7 isn't that hard (well, that I remember) and is definitely worth playing through. It's one of the weirdest, most unique games I have ever played.

First level yet, I found out that only when the black guy is killed I actually die.
I'm just not really enjoying the gameplay, I think I'll end up watching in youtube.

Killer 7 wasn't a great time for me, either. I played through it a few years ago, and sold it immediately after finishing it. It seemed pretty cool at first. I don't really remember what it was that ended up bothering me about it, though--it was definitely more than one thing. I sort of recall a seemingly hokey reference to Dr Strangelove, for some reason.

I don't remember the gameplay being all that difficult until later in the game, though. Were you aiming for the weaknesses, or just shooting?

Aiming for the weakness, when it works ok, but when there are at least 3 guys they always kill me.
I have to upgrade stuff, I don't care about.
Youtube it is, I just don't enjoy it besides the story.

I certainly can't blame you. I wasn't able to appreciate it much when I played it, but this actually lead me to a pretty interesting video essay on the game:

Killer 7 made me feel like I hated it for being overly gratuitous, and narratively dissonant, but his take on the game, particularly the analysis of the story, actually gave me a newfound sense of respect for it. I think it's worth a watch after you've gotten through a walkthrough.

I do love Suda's game, I think I've seen that video a while ago.
What made me want to play the game (again, I've bailed before also) was this video:
Haven't seen the whole video to not spoil anymore, but the heart of the concept really intrigues me.
Also I have to start again 25th ward, was around the middle, but today I can't say I remember fuck what was happening.
Not sure if I won't have to play the silver case again.

The music and radio stations in GTA are proof that New York, LA, San Franko, etc exist in their world. So why does nobody find it weird that they have so many copycat cities?
