Random Shenmue Thoughts

Just lose the fight at Man Mo Park and you're golden ;)

I'm thinking I may, I should have one save before that, times getting tight as I still want to beat Shenmue II prior to Shenmue III & I just reached Kowloon... I think I'll give it one more go tonight and if I can get Fang Mei to call Ryo Ryo, then I'll keep at it! My save is at the beginning of Feb so that'll be a lot of book dropping and tea cup at tables to speed up the days!

Indeed; I hate that we have to do things in-game to delay, but that's the way it is :(

EDIT* I'll add, you're golden *at this point*; Duck can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you DO need to talk to her a bit, in order to get her to soften up and then the Man Mo Park fight just busts her shell open. If you don't talk to her beforehand and just lose the fight, even though she calls you Ryo-San, I don't believe she builds up enough rapport to do her bday event.

There's a chance Fangmei will completely despawn from the world after doing that, if you're not playing the Dreamcast version.

Talking to Eileen fixes that, but since you've already done that it won't work.

You have to delay?

When I play I have to hurry things along a bit. ;)

lol I also hurry things along ;)

But if he's in the beginning of February, he's gotta delay a few more weeks before doing the bday event!

Or does he?

Bah, I was just two crates short of moving them all on day 5, but hey the QTE's for the last two work days have been badass so I'm not too cut up over it!

One thing I missed all these years was that Nagai actually got way more dialogue than I realised. It was fun asking him about Terry, its one of the only times he's given me a non "chewing something over" response.

One thing that still confuses me though - Lan Di hangs around after getting the Dragon Mirror, yet he doesn't know that the second mirror is with Ryo. Which makes me wonder, why does he wait around? The deal between Chi You Men and Mad Angels is something that someone of his level wouldn't get involved in (as per what Chen comments) so it just makes me wonder why he hangs around...

If you're not repeating days in the story, it's impossible to take all the crates - the cutscene will trigger on the last crate you take from outside the Old Warehouse District.

You can take at most one extra crate, but you have to start taking crates from Warehouse No. 8 first.

Ah ok, didn't think it was possible but I'd always wondered.

Anyway, finished replaying Shenmue, plenty of time to get Shenmue 2 done ahead of its release if I focus on just the story. Gotta say, on each replay I feel like I enjoy the combat more and more, playing around with different throws and the dodge mechanic. If it weren't for the cumbersome camera at points it'd pretty much be perfect.

After doing the first afternoon of work at the harbor (first time trying the forklift), Nozomi ask Ryo why he want to work so suddenly and how they won't be able to see each other as much as before.

Even more sad knowing that Ryo still didn't answered about her feeling (never will) and Kurita san telling him to treat his girl right after him breaking up with Yuriko.

Edit : I should have wrote it in the "Discovering New Things?" thread, but too late, sorry.

I'm about to look for Yuanda Zhu in the Ghost Hall building -- how many hours left of the game do you think (normal run)?

For shits and giggles, I beat Rod Stunt first, then Chunyan and Greg More last on my current S2 playthrough. I know Chunyan is more dramatic because people die when they lose but I always found Greg More the most able fighter of those three, so I figured it made sense to fight him last.

Well, you'll have to beat the plank walking section. Make sure you enter through the 7th floor of Thousand White Building, that saves you a lot of time. Then you'll have to beat four regular Street Fighters and then Jeffrey, Wolf and Sarah - sorry, I meant Rod, Greg and Chunyan. :sneaky: After that, you'll do the Yellow Head Building raid. I'd say you easily have three hours or more left on "Disc 3", plus the entire "Disc 4".

All in all that makes around 6 hours + left in the game. I assume you're a working person in their 30s like most people on here, who doesn't really have time for gaming outside the weekends, so if you want to finish S2 before S3 arrives, I'd say hurry up.

Awesome, thanks. I have a vague memory of what's coming up but it's been so long.

Yes, that is precisely why I'm asking how long is left, because I need to decide how to distribute my play time over the next week so I can actually finish it :sneaky:

I might do Ghost Hall tonight.

realisticly, is it possible to complete shenmue 1+2 (ps4) in 7 days playing casually or are we talking about mega dedication?

been so busy havent been able to start a back to back run through before the shenmue 3 release.. got close to ending shenmue 1 last month but was play so infrequently i lost momentum and decided to restart.

Hope you guys dont burn yourselves out hurrying through 1 and 2 before 3 is out. I thought about replaying them again, but I'll just wait for 3 and play it fresh.
