it seems like nobody was really interested in Shenmue 3. that was the point why it took Suzuki so long to start the project.
in the end he had no other choice than Kickstarter because it was the best way
to get at least a minimum budget from the fans.
Sega was not interested in funding this game.
so if you think this through -
without a real publisher, it would mean that Suzuki had nothing else than the 7 mil from KS
+ whatever the deal with Shibuya and Sony is.
you can read in older updates, that its only because of the help from Deep Silver, that they were able to
make the developer team and the game way bigger.
so without Deep Silver there would be no delays for polishing, the budget would be gone in 2017 / 2018,
the developer team would be smaller, the game world would be smaller.
now imagine the latest E3 trailer from the Pc Gaming Show but with one year less time for polishing,
no second studio for characters, a smaller game world, less NPCs and so on.
would that be a better product for us? would we all be cool with that?
now get rid of Deep Silver for Shenmue 4 ... after this whole mess, what if Shenmue 3 only gets
average scores because of the overall quality ... who is gonna fund Shenmue 4?
its not like we can freely choose a perfect publisher. it was already troublesome to find ONE.
