Random Gaming Thoughts

random thought.. i dont understand why there isnt more fixed camera angle/pre-rendered, resident evil 1 HD type games. they look great and they hold up for years.

even if you got rid of the fixed camera angle, the pre-rendered backgrounds would look amazing for game like shenmue.

Virtua Racing for the Sega Ages collection made my day, this open the door beyond MegaDrive and 2D only. Hopefully we will see all Virtua Fighters, Daytona, Sega Rally etc

I get that it's kinda hypocritical considering I'm into comics, but there's just so much that doesn't sit right with me. Too serious one moment then overly silly the next. I'd understand if this happened from game to game, but it happens within scenes themselves. The lack of consistency is just terribly off-putting.

That is definitely the issue with MGS4, aside fomr just being redundant entirely as a story. Every game before was much more subtle and/or minimal with the random humour. 4 took it took a ridiculous, annoying childish level.

After playing with a lot of high res PBR materials, I actually looked at some older 3D models that had that pixelated photo textures, and fuck, made me comfy as hell. Too bad they don't really mix that well, but fuck, there's certain humanity there that most of these PBR things kinda lack.

You can't get rid of the fixed camera angle, that's what pre-rendered backgrounds are, images, you can't move a 3d camera around it.
There are many reasons for not being more popular:
-3D is powerful enough to do it realtime.
- Clunky controls (it has to be tank, or changing directions according to screen).
- There are not many games that benefit from a fixed perspective (specially not anything action based).
- There's more futureproofing with 3D (with stuff like tesselation, AA, and general postprocessing effects), than with an animated background image.

What a dick.

There's a huge discussion about this on Reddit at the moment with loads more details but the above is a TD;DR.

Kind of sad when a creator of one type of entertainment media, literature, fails to recognize the value of another. Recognize, bc I don't mean for him to have to cherish it or love it or dig it, but come on... Come.on.

Just like that spot on Dara O'Briain skit on why music elitism is stupid, "you can't like those sounds coming into your ear, you have to like these ones". And yes I still judge modern day rap fans. It's spelled hypocrite. ?

Sadly, as much as this may seem like an open and shut case, Sapkowski may actually have something here due to Article 44 of Polish copyright law:
In the event of gross discrepancy between the remuneration of the author and the benefits of the acquirer of the author's economic rights or the licensee, the author may request the court for a due increase of his/her remuneration.

From what I've read, CPR and Sapkowski are attempting to settle it out of court. But I foresee a pretty messy court case if they can't reach a compromise.

"OMG you heard the new Eminem album?"
"Nah mate, I don't listen to new Hip-Hop."
"Aw you need to hear it, Slim Shady's back man!"
*Listens to new album*
*Sounds nothing like Slim Shady*

Happens with every new album... ?

I think the weirdest of the lot is Nas when he tries this new... "style" (I suppose) It's like Patrick Stewart tryna do stand-up. You love the guy, but you're just sat there holding back a visibly cringing face thinkin "stick to what you're good at mate n stop makin yourself look like a tit."

The first one that didn't gave a shit about his writing was him, selling them off to make a quick buck for something he finds it stupid.
He's going to settle for quite a bit of money (probably a couple of millions), and I would bitch if it means a lot of free money.

Seems like Sony is getting tougher censoring sexual content on games.
Seems like PC is the only option now, too bad that it'll discourage developers of including anything sexual if they want a broader marketplace.

I feel that BOTW missed a great opportunity with the dlc. I was hoping for 9 mysterious dungeons to pop up and add a new layer to the whole experience. But then I realized it was Nintendo when I played the dlc. I still love the game but they could have pushed the boundaries and showed what a company could truly add to a game with dlc content.
I know am delusional btw

I hate hooliganism in videogame fans, those fanboys that can not tell anything bad about "their" but are insulting all the time other titles, same thing for consoles. I read here today this behaviur in another topic, and it is extenuating
